Yes you would need to, no way to attatch any lure to the sonar bulb. Even if you could it would be to cumbersome. Locate the fish and cast to them.

How do you cast it into the water and get it back?

Insert the fishing line(installed in the rod) into the hole of the fishing sensor and secure it with a couple of knots then cast the sensor in the water as you would in a normal float or lure.
