That was the state of affairs at our house before I ordered the YVE LIFE interactive laser cat toy. As I prepared to open the recently arrived desertcart shipment, our always curious juvenile male, Jet, made it a point to insert himself in the middle of the box. When I pulled the cat toy from its packaging, he gave it a casual and dismissive glance, returning to the top of his cat condo from which he could “guard” the room from whatever he perceived to be unwelcome or otherwise an affront to his feline sense of territory. Dutifully, I plugged the almost autonomous cat toy in for its first charge at our house and true to its included instructions, it was fully charged and ready to go in short order. The toy itself can be placed almost anywhere and its adjustable head can be set for maximum feline fun. The device itself is shaped roughly like that of a sitting black and white cat, complete with cat shaped ears on its rotating head. It seems to be a well built device and appears suited to survival in a house with roving felines. The toy is a bit on the top heavy side due to the hollow nature of its supporting base. More often than not, I give in. As a cat parent, I can only hope that this video game doesn’t “rot his brain” as my parents were convinced computer games would mine! It operates silently but sometimes I wish it had a video game-like musical score to accompany the antics of play, but let’s be honest, our cats don’t need the music, that’s strictly for us humans. We are the ones easily entertained. The cat contingent gives this toy a tail up (this means “great” in the cat vernacular of mannerisms) and I definitely agree. Review: Kitten distraction achieved! - I love this laser toy so much! I bought this so my cats can be entertained when I’m not home. And it works like a charm. Off the charger it last about three days. But it still works even when charging so if I go on vacation I know I can leave it plugged in and my cats will be entertained between sitter visits. This is most ideal because my kitten will harass my older cat when she’s bored so this helps distract her while allowing my senior cat a break. She likes it too, so I bought another one so they can play together. So worth the price. This will be my go to gift for my friends who have cats too. Details: unless you change this to the manual setting, it will go dormant on its own for a few hours (maybe 2 - I don’t time it) and then comes back on by itself. This can be alarming at first but it’s an auto toy so it’s supposed to do that. I sometimes turn it back on when I want to and so far that doesn’t seem to mess up the auto feature, so hooray to that. This toy is magical. I’m so happy I purchased it, twice. I know cats respond differently so I will add this suggestion if you are undecided. I already knew my senior cat (black and white short hair) liked laser pointers and my new kitten (calico tabby) is fond of chasing and fetching so I figured she’d be into laser pointers too. I am happy she does. If you know your cats like laser pointers, this toy should be a winner for you. If you aren’t sure, get a cheap regular laser toy from the grocery store and do a trial. If they like that, then go ahead and take a chance on this one too.

**Q: The quality of how?**
A: This unit works well, out cat is entertained.

**Q: How to start it?- It moves but there is no laser beam.**
A: At the top of the laser beam, there is a button. I don't really know what the different colors mean, but if you push the button 1 2 3 times, different colors will pop up. Make sure your laser is charged. I push the button down a lot because my cat loves this toy. The laser goes off after 15 minutes, and starts up again after 2 hours, I believe. But I start it back up when it goes off. If this doesn't work, the laser beam is defective. Return it and have it replaced. (The light should be moving all around the room).

**Q: Is there a monthly subscription for this?**
A: No. There is nothing about this that requires a subscription. It is simply a laser chaser. Just like a hand held laser pointer, this is just automatic.

**Q: Mine just goes off every two hours, no motion activation.**
A: Mine did that too. Right up until the laser stopped working altogether.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Cats love it but it has some flaws

My cats do indeed love this toy! The toy is very top heavy though so it does get knocked over quickly, which means often the lazer is then going up the wall, which is fun when it points to a door or wall, not so fun when it points to your shelf of delicate things. The other thing is that there are 3 different modes for the lazer. The accompanying booklet says what the 3 modes are called but not actually what the differences between them are... There doesn't seem to be a way to simple turn it on and off, without engaging with the sensor, so it comes on and off randomly. Which is a fun surprise for the cats but isn't great when I'm trying to distract them for a certain length of time. And that means the battery dies basically every day. Thankfully you can run the toy while it is plugged into the charger so that helps.
