This stuff is the bomb
I do not like the heavy feel of most moisturizers. And the expensive lightweight ones just disappear. This stuff is the perfect in between. Face feels moisturized but not smothered. My only complaint is if you use it daily, the amount in the teeny bottle you get doesn’t last long at all. I wish it would come in larger quantity.

Great product and results
Excellent product, along with the vitamin c serum these products work, better than The Ordinary products. I highly recommend after noticing results with my skin after 4 weeks. I do agree with the bottle, a glass dropper bottle is easier as I had to manually open the bottle to use full product towards the end of it running out. Price and quality win though, 5 stars!!

Amount inside is too little - won't last more than a week
not worth the money

Straightforward serum
Normally I don't order skin care products that contain retinol but since this Renewing Serum by Current State also mentions marula, I decided to try it, and I am glad I did. We all know about the benefits of retinol, and also how it can dry out, irritate and sensitize the skin. But with this formulation the maker has made good effort to minimize the negative effects of retinol by including plenty of calming and soothing ingredients. The first five ingredients in this serum are aloe, apricot kernel oil, glycerin, jojoba seed oil and squalane. These ingredients, plus several others listed, will hydrate, repair, protect, soothe and calm the skin, while also providing a nice balance to the retinol. Besides all the great, natural ingredients, I love that this serum is free from alcohol, fragrance, sulfates, acrylates and silicones. Whatever scent there is to this serum comes naturally from the plant derived ingredients. And it does have some scent but it's minimal, kind of earthy and barely there. I also like the brand concept with Current State. Meaning that whatever condition your skin is in on any given day, they have a product for it. This makes sense to me as our skin is ever-changing and paying attention to those changes will help us better care for it. Anyway, the serum is medium consistency but not oily feeling. It is a rather strange orangey-tan color, but once applied to the skin it absorbs quickly leaving no trace of color, or any residue for that matter. Given the assortment of good ingredients I expect that this serum will do my skin many favors but since I've only been using it less than a week I have to admit to not seeing much difference yet. All said and done I think this is a very nice formulation for the low price of $17.99. It is packaged in a small 1 oz bottle so I hope going forward they will offer it in larger sizes. I would definitely recommend this serum for anybody who feels that they need retinol in their skincare routine.

Way too perfumy....awfully perfumy
I love testing out skin care for Vine product reviews. But this was not one of those times. PROS * cruelty-free * vegan * does leave skin feeling good CONS and why it dropped 2 stars * horribly perfumed * very expensive at $19.99 considering not a large bottle If you like heavily scented products then you may like this. I cannot stand cheap perfumed products and this is nauseating. Despite the awful scent I tried the cream and it leaves skin feeling good. Just don't know if I can ignore the stench putting it on my face. NOTE: to open you need to screw the orange top part until it pops open so you can use the pump. End of the day, I personally cannot recommend something that smells so strong of awful perfume.

Not for me.
I ended up not loving this retinol serum from the Current State Store. It is way too big of a bottle for this amount of product. That is just a waste of plastic. Please do better. I liked the consistency of the serum, but it is an odd color, and I did not care for the smell at all. Not at all. Nope. Not at all. I started with a couple of uses per week since you need to start retinol slow. I worked up to three times per week, but I can’t go past that because of the scent. After a month of use, I cannot say that I have noticed a huge difference in my dark spots. I will continue until I use this up, but this has not been my favorite retinol product. Sorry.

Works well for dark spot lightening
I recently added the Current State Retinol Serum to my skincare routine, and it has quickly become a standout product for addressing uneven skin tone and dark spots. This serum is particularly impressive for its ability to deliver the benefits of retinol without the harsh side effects typically associated with this potent ingredient. The serum has a lightweight, silky texture that absorbs quickly into the skin. It doesn’t leave behind any greasy residue, making it perfect for layering with other products. The smooth application allows it to seamlessly fit into both my morning and evening skincare After several weeks of consistent use, I noticed an improvement in the appearance of my dark spots and overall skin tone. The serum has visibly lightened hyperpigmentation and post-acne marks, leaving my complexion looking more even and radiant. My skin also feels smoother and more refined, but the standout benefit has definitely been the reduction in dark spots. The retinol strength is ideal for those who are new to retinol or have sensitive skin—it’s effective without causing irritation or excessive dryness. The Current State Retinol Serum is an excellent choice for anyone looking to address dark spots and uneven skin tone. It delivers noticeable improvements in hyperpigmentation while being gentle enough for regular use. Whether you’re new to retinol or seeking a more balanced formulation, this serum is a great addition to your skincare routine. My skin has never looked more even, and I highly recommend it for those looking to tackle stubborn dark spots.

A decent entry level retinol serum
I've recently tried the Current State brand retinol serum, and I have to say, it's a pretty solid choice for anyone looking to dip their toes into the world of retinol. The texture is super lightweight, which I really appreciated, as it absorbed quickly into my skin without leaving that annoying greasy feel. I did notice some slight improvements in my skin's texture and a reduction in fine lines, which was encouraging! Overall, this is a great option for beginners, but if you’re more experienced with retinol, you might want to look for something stronger. It’s definitely worth checking out if you're curious about incorporating retinol into your routine!
