why is the color code of the brown bear, purple-2. does it actually come in brown?

Mine showed brown as code when I ordered could be error now would try again later see what comes up

It is your typical beautiful stuffed plush soft teddy bear to hug. Just unzip back , pull some stuffing out , rearrange and position insides as you want and zip back up. Blow dry fur with cold or warm not hot air. Now you have a big livable bear to hug and live

does the cover come completely off?

Not really. If you're wondering if you could take the cover off and put it in the washing machine I would say no.
