So much better than an axe
We live in the Hebrides and burn a peat fire but need plenty of kindling to get the fire started. This device makes chopping logs for kindling so much easier, quicker and safer. I enjoy using it so much that I find I can’t stop using it. Some hardwood logs still require a good hard bash, but it works. Since it’s cast iron, you wouldn’t want to hit it with your mallet, otherwise it looks like it will last. I’ve no connection to the company and didn’t receive any incentive to give a good review. Just a satisfied customer. 😊

Solid strong and sharp - Brilliant
Solid strong and sharp - bolted to a workbench its brilliant. Worth paying for the real thing. Makes cuting kindling a doddle and can handle big logs as well if you whack it enough times!

Not good for splitting logs. It’s a good tool but only for kindling. It’s a good bit of kit.

Amazing product from a seasoned chopper!
I could not be without this as it makes life so much easier and making my own kindling has never been simpler. I have used an old axe head as a splitter for many many years so felt a bit of a wuss when considering this. I still use my faithful splitter when out in the woods or in our campervan but for my home fires and firepit, this tools is a must and i could not recommend it enough - get one, they are brilliant!!

Does exactly as described. Great for chopping / splitting. Idea for kindling. Ensure to screw it down.

Excellent for kindling
I bought this to make kindling out of scraps that I have. For that I’d give it 5 stars. But if f you want it to split small logs (like the sales video), I’d think again. With a hand mallet you’ll be there all day.
