Nice and soft, so they grab well. Don't know about longevity because I flip bikes, but longevity is a VERY minor concern, stopping is major. Good price. Highly recommended. Bargain price; works well on aluminum rim but not as well on steel
restoring an early 70's Raleigh 10 speed. Original pads were rock hard. These were bargain priced at less than $1 a piece. One of my wheels is aluminum and these pads work well on it. The other wheel is steel and they don't work nearly as well on it. Not sure why the difference, but it's striking how different they are. I noticed Shimano sells these style pads for a MUCH higher price; perhaps they would work better on steel? Also, these pads are square-cut, so there's only a small contact patch when installed as received. Fortunately, it was easy to grind them down a bit to match the taper of the wheels.

easy to install
my son's 18" bike came with hand brakes which is all he used. They wore out so had to get a new set and these looked exactly like what he had, nothing fancy just brake pads with 1 screw. So I gave them a shot and they work well. They didn't go on 100% flat but the brakes did engage and as he has worn them down they have evened out some and now the full brake pad on front and bake both engage instead of just front/back of a few of the pads. This may have to do with alignment of C clamp brakes but I didn't move them a whole lot and was careful to have them aligned best I could before putting these on. Either way they have been working and wearing well and still on 1st replacement set. As they weren't expensive worth the money as they didn't break and work.

Very good!
They were relatively easy to install. (Well, as easy as any brake pad, and adjusting toe-in took some effort.), and they stop my bike very well. I'm glad that they include the washer and nut. The installation fit is good. I'm happy with those brake pads.

Only use on smooth chrome plated wheels. Do not use on anodized aluminum wheels.
These pads work very well on a smooth surface, chrome plated wheel on the front of my bike, but surprisingly do not work at all on the anodized (replacement) wheel on the back of my bike which has a slightly rough contact surface - the pads rapidly wear and do not provide any braking power. Bottom line - if you have a smooth surface wheel, 5 stars. If you have a wheel with a bit of a rough surface interface with the pads, 1 star, they will not work at all.

Perfect replacement pads for my Dia-Compe 400 side-pull brakes.
These fit perfectly in the Dia-Compe 400 side-pull brakes on my 40 year old Cannondale road bike. The old brake pads were not worn out, just hard as a rock from their age. These replacements have good braking power and look nearly identical to the old ones.

Quality Rubber
Quality product with a good grade of rubber that really stops your bike. Very easy to install. You loosen the nuts of the old brake pads and remove them and put on the new ones and tighten the bolts and you are done. Your bike stops like a new bike or better now.
