This will not taste like homebrewed chai. That said, it has really great flavor for what it is, which is an instant chai drink or spice blend to add to whatever you like. My preferred brand, Blue Lotus, was not available when I wanted it in the preferred flavor and size, so decided to give this a try. I really like that it's organic and the flavor fits my idea of what Indian chai should taste like. Everybody has their own expectation from a masala chai, so this will be very individual. But I would describe it as having a cardamom and ginger emphasis, with a good level of cinnamon. There are one or two people who have said it was all pepper. I would have to say their taster is broken or they just don't know Indian spices. I don't care much for the gritty residue of spice it leaves at the bottom when I'm done with my cup, but was expecting it based on other reviews. But I found I need to put in the recommended 1/2 teaspoon or so to get the right concentration of flavor. In comparison, my preferred Blue Lotus masala chai does not seem to require as much of the mix to get the same level of flavor; which means little to no grit left in the bottom of the cup when done. Anyway, it's no big deal if you just skip drinking that last half sip and use it for the next cupful. I much prefer masala chai with honey and milk, but also don't need to be consuming a lot of sugar and want to move away from dairy a little. If you find you like yours sweet also, enjoying it without sweetener is just a matter of getting use to it and I find it very palatable without. Likewise, the dairy. Masala chai if usually mixed with milk in my experience. For a single coffee cup sized serving, I found about 3 tablespoons of milk is about right for me. But So Delicious coconut-based creamer makes a wonderful substitute, nearly indistinguishable in flavor when mixed in.

I'm happy to find an unsweetened decaf chai, but this one is too strong in cloves for my taste. It's ok if I add a little cocoa powder to combat the cloves.

I like this. I add a little to my smoothie and other drinks. It is very spicy and has a very intense flavor. I enjoy it's aroma but I use it sparingly in beverages and in my yogurt. The flavor will overtake most foods and beverages. As for the health benefits, I have found very little evidence of its benefits. I tried it as directed and had digestional problems.

This is the best chai EVER. The taste and quality is amazing, you can smell the beautiful earthy chai spices fill your space the second you open the bag. I'm so glad it's caffeine free. The herbals spices are really good for supporting digestive health, so if you have slow digestion or feel bloated and sluggish, this warming blend is perfect for you. I like to blend mine with hot water, organic coconut cream, a lil raw honey and MCT oil. CHEFS KISS. I don't even miss my morning coffee anymore!! Thank you DelighTeas!

Bad idea. I should have known better. This is ground up chai herbs. So much sediment. Like a third of it will be undrinkable, bitter waste at the bottom of your mug/cup/glass. Just stick to simmering whole loose leaf. This stuff is way too overpriced for what it is. As for taste - 6/10. Too much cinnamon and black pepper. The spice level is fine but the flavor is garbage.

I use this lovely blend to get big chai flavor into protein shakes, smoothies, and baked goods. It's also fabulous just added to hot with almond or coconut milk. Sometimes I even add a teaspoon of coco powder to get a rich chocolate vibe going. The flavor is so much more satisfying than anything I can get from a tea bag. The cinnamon they use is really nice and smooth (an issue I have with a lot of other chai mixes available in the US) and there is a really decent amount of cardamom so that flavor really comes through (another thing I find lacking in a lot of other mixes). I'm so happy to find a mix like this that is just the spices and does not include tea leaves, sugar or powdered milk. I have struggled with food sensitivities for most of my life and generally avoid caffeine and sugar if at all possible. I'm also lactose intolerant and live a vegan lifestyle. This is an absolute must-have in my kitchen!
