Great & Relevant FP-C & CCP-C Material
Back to Basics was extremely helpful for me when studying for my FP-C (Passed on my first attempt).A majority of the information/study material and information for review are still relevant, in terms of materials covered in the examination and in current literature.I used this book in addition to a few others to help prepare me for my examination. Definitely would recommend though!

FP-C
If you’re planning on taking the FP-C, this is the book! By far the most helpful book I used, and I bought a bunch. The rationale at the end of each quiz is beyond helpful. I can say that this book has the biggest hand in me passing my FP-C first time. I did find a few minor discrepancies and the CAMTS minimums were out of date, but the bulk of it, especially with the rationale, was what I needed to succeed in passing.

Great questions but a fair amount of errors
Just passed the FP-C exam. This book covered a lot of content and had questions very similar to the actual exam. Only qualm is that there are many questions where either there is a major typo which changes the question leading to the answer making no sense (e.g what to do for an “ethanol overdose” then the answer says to give fomepizol and explains what to do for an ethylene glycol overdose) or the explanation contradicts the answer given (e.g the letter given as correct doesn’t match the explained answer).I would overall highly recommend this book but be prepared to be very frustrated by the little errors.

Good information
This book is really great. It gives the correct answer with the rational for the answer for each review question.

A must read for Any critical care certification
So, after taking the FP-C test I’d like to say that it is very much a knowledge based test. You have got know this material. There are several books amongst other resources that I used to prepare myself for the test. This was a good book. I liked the rationales because it taught you as you went along, particularly with unfamiliar stuff. Not a single question that is in this book is on the test so don’t think it is. You genuinely have to be familiar with all the information and have a generally good knowledge base. This covers all the topics really well. It’s a great study guide. I went over all my resources prob 3-4 times in straight crunch sessions and by then I’ve seen all the material ALOT. This is what it takes to pass the FP-C CCEMT-P CFRN and the CCRN. I hope this helps anyone who is interested in their critical care certification.

This content is very close to the testing material
I chose this book to review for the FP-C exam and I studied this book inside and out with a couple others. The content inside this book is very closely like what they testing material will go over. The CAMT's flight minimums material is out of date, so make sure you find material that is up to date, but outside of that, its a great study resource and largely a reason I passed the test the first go around. I highly recommend this as a study aide.

Great tool !!!
Excellent book. Worth every cent even though it's not a very recent edition.Beware: it's not a textbook, but an extensive collection of questions (about 50 for each and every topic) - so, you have to know you stuff to fully benefit from it! There are very clear and exhaustive explanations of every right answer, as well as useful flashcards at the end of the book.I've found it truly useful and - btw - I've passed my CCP-C first try!!(I've prepared my exam using also the IAFCCP Critical Care Exam Review).Good luck!

Good exam prep
Bought as prep for CCP-C exam, for which it was invaluable. In depth explainations of complex topics and constant repetition of 'must know' items. In reading the book you feel as if Orchid is instructing you personally, such is the writing style, which gives it a homely quality. It is not so bland and cold as other medical volumes. The book is however riddled with typographical and grammatical errors which do get annoying after a while, I can't help feeling that the author skipped on some proof reading prior to publication.Don't rely on this as your sole study guide, but as part of several resources it is very helpful. Recommended.
