What can I say- Nat King Cole in the very best way possible!
What can I say! Possibly one of the best artists of all time, this really ties up my collection. His soothing voice just makes you feel great! To anyone who is wondering, there is no option for surround sound on this- intitally I was disappointed then came to the realisation that his work is best left untouched by the dirty hands of the dolby sound engineer :) Also, although it stated no video, you do get a nice colourful song menu, I especially loved some of the songs on here with his kids, reminds me of some of the chitty chitty bang bang music.

Nat in your living room
This was my first Pure Audio Blu-ray purchase and so may be colouring my review. I am playing this type media in a Sony BDP-S370 Blu-ray player linked to my analogue Hi Fi System and also headphones (B&W P7). This disc contains music from 1951-62 so you have to accept these recordings are not going to be as noiseless as recordings made nowadays. Having said that, the quality is lovely, it is like having Nat in your living room. The first track L-O-V-E has Nat coming from the left channel only which was a worry to start as I thought there was a system problem, but research on the internet showed that this was indeed correct. I also noticed some distortion on some of the high volume sections. This turned out to be the fact that the Blu-ray defaults to playing the DTS version on the disc, something my player can't handle 100%, pressing the audio button on the remote changed to the PCM or Dolby True sound options and the problem disappeared in both cases. Sadly you get no advice contained within the box to explain that depending on playback equipment you might need to experiment. If the DTS version had not played at all, then it would have been more obvious to try alternatives. As you would expect there is no 5.1 here, but for those wanting beautiful stereo, should not be disappointed, there are the odd tracks that you may want to skip with his daughters at a young age after you have heard them a couple of times and there are a few false starts on some of the later songs on the disc. There are a couple of songs featuring Dean Martin (another favourite of mine) which sound really good too. You get a voucher in the case to download an MP3 version from the net as well.So to some up, I have played this disc many times, I love it. I can certainly recommend it if you love the voice of Nat King Cole. If it had one or two more of his best songs on it I would have given it 5 stars.
