Needs strength
All good, except for the last fraction where the blades do not reach and you have to poke out the segments to release them.

Manual is awful. Thank heavens for YOU TUBE
A wonderfully constructed and engineered piece of kit : BUTThe instruction manual is a disgrace to this day and age. It needs a BIG revision and update. (American package units from Amazon USA have a much better instruction manual)Thank heavens for You Tube, where there are several videos showing how it all comes together. From the dates it seems that this peeler has been available for quite a few years nowI bought the unit hoping to be able to just peel and core the apple but find this is not possible. May I suggest an engineering up date for the next version, where bye the part 8, the corer slicer unit, is engineered into TWO items, one the corer and the other the slicer. This would mean that if you want to only core, the corer would be left vertical and the slicer blade rotated through 90 degrees from vertical to horizontal. Hope this could be considered and if done will certainly buy another unit, and give my current one to a friend.Provided you don't mind the shortcoming of the mechanism as reviewed above. This is a fine unit and does the job described very well. Highly recommended.

Fantastic piece of kit!
Firstly, until you get used to it, put on a thick pair of gloves! The corer/slicer blade and the curved peeler blade are very sharp.I removed the corer/slicer blade and used the machine just for peeling. As you will discover, the thickness of the peelings can be varied by loosening the wing nut, adjusting the curved blade, and then retightening the nut. But, good luck with the instructions... I quickly gave up and used it as an exercise in "discovery learning" - hence the advice to wear thick gloves, until you get the hang of how it works.Note the peeler blade should be locked back after peeling is complete. You then disengage the armature from the long threaded axle and draw the axle back so the peeled apple returns to the centre of the unit, from whence it started (I hope). You then remove the apple, taking care not to cut yourself on the slicer/corer mechanism (if you've decided to retain it to amuse your grandchildren). When you get the hang of it, you'll be delighted, and will be well on your way to a freezer full of apple crumbles to cheer you up during the Winter, knowing that you've made good use of your windfalls and time as well as impressing your spouse. This particular unit is nicely chromed and enamelled, so should last a good while if you wash and dry it... carefully (most A & E units have long queues on Sundays).
