The strap is 1 1/2'' The buckle is 1 3/4 at the top and tapers to 5/8" at the clamp end. The overall length of the buckle is 1 1/2 " It's plastic but a very good clamp.

I bought 1, then bought 2 more. I LOVE the no metal and ease of adjustment. I might have to readjust the length after wearing them a day, but it sure does beat me having to pull my pants back up over my non-existent hips (being a 72 year old man) every 100 steps I take. No metal means easy to wash without banging up your washer and dryer. Very reasonably priced means buy one for every pair of your favorite pants you decide to wear that day.
