The 50-inch extension was also handy for getting better angles than a standard desk tripod allows.For normal smartphones it worked very well and felt stable enough for everyday use.The only issue I ran into was when using it with a heavier rugged phone and case combination, where it became noticeably less stable and had a tendency to topple over if you weren't careful. To be fair, these compact travel tripods aren't really designed around unusually heavy devices.
