Fairly complex to put together and a bit fiddly in places but that's why I buy them.The UGEARS brand has been of top quality and I haven't any major issues with any of the 6 I've built.

I have found each U gears models great to build the precision and detail is fantastic I have now built 15 of these Ugears kitsBut found the latest one difficult to get the tracks to run and would be interested if anybody can let me know how to ease themThis may apply to my latest model The Manned Mars Rover any hints would be welcome. This model is quite a challenge but I’m very happy with the result, lots of sanding to get tracks to work but that’s half the fun with these models, can’t fault the quality of wood , NO breakages on this one

I love puzzles like these. I often get a few for the Winters night when I have nothing to do. I've started on this 1 jsut so I know how it goes. Very easy to follow.Lots of tiny bits so be warned then can fall and you may have issues finding them.So far so good and it's looking great.Gets 5-5. Would make a great Birthday or Christmas gift for the boys or girls in the family.

When this popped up on vine, it reminded me of sort of an adult wooden lego kit. I loved the idea that it had so many pieces and the kit comes complete with a step by step guide and the end result is fairly large too. It took me and my partner the weekend to make and everything seems high quality and not flimbsy. I decided to glue all the parts together as I built and now it’s very solid. Overall it’s a great item which I would buy again in a heartbeat. They are set at a very reasonable price and lovely to see the manufacturer has a selection of different vehicles to choose from too.

Full disclosure - I received this for free as an Amazon Vine reviewer.The box arrived on time, and was well packaged etc. etc. I'm now about half way through the build, and have got to the point of installing the clockwork spring, and testing the gearing. Its taken about six hours so far, but that includes some dismantling to correct errors so the overall estimated time of 8 hours seems reasonable.Must admit that at 63 my eyes are struggling with some of the small parts - seems that I'm always swapping between reading glasses and bare eyes to get things into focus. The instructions could be a bit clearer as well - basically a set of drawings showing the correct order of assembly which can be bit ambiguous at times. (As an example, in one case there are two gears pressed together on the same shaft; it took a few goes to set the distance between them that allowed them to turn without fouling other gears in the train). Hence the errors to correct.Having said that, its a real feeling of achievement when it does come together correctly. My tip is to get something like water pump pliers (jaws open a couple of inches) to gently squeeze some of the smaller parts into the small, interference fit, holes. As others have said, the spring is tricky to install and use plenty of the supplied candle wax to lubricate the bearings and gears. There is an assembly video on YouTube which might help.A post script after assembly. With two or more caterpillar tracks fitted the transmission locks up (too much friction?). I'm trying to ease it off using one track at a time, but not much success so far. Is there a better lubricant than candle wax?
