Excellent and fascinating history
Lulu White, daughter of an enslaved father, led the Houston branch of the NAACP during a fascinating time of demonstrations, boycotts, and two Supreme Court decisions that broke the whites-only barrier in the Democratic primaries and the whites-only admissions policy at the University of Texas. She was a great leader and matriarch in the civil rights movement. An important book and good reading.

Riveting.....Gut wrenching
The mood of the book captures the "Real Life Jim Crow'. Takes the reader to the period of time . Put a face on Jim Crow....in a sence
