There are 2 sizes of clippers: a larger one which is probably useful for toe nails, and a smaller one for finger nails. Each IS sharp as described. The larger one is OK, just be careful to know how much nail you are cutting off. The lever spring action on larger pair is good to have (keeps them open when not depressed). I learned for each pair that it is better to lay the clipper flat to the nail, vs. cutting at an angle, which would likely cut off more nail than you want. For the small pair, be sure to slide the protective side shield backwards away from the clipper blades so that you can see the nail being cut (sales video is helpful). The smaller pair has a useful file on one of the handles, and you'll probably need this to smooth out the precision cut. Be careful at the edge of the nail and finger/toe so you do not cut beside the nail. These clippers do not need any extra energy to cut the nails, as they are quite sharp and will cut easily.

I bought these toenail clippers to clip the wife’s toenails. Her big toenails are an eighth of an inch thick that’s no exaggeration and that’s her big toenails and I had a hell of a time cutting the nail what we wound up doing as we soaked her feet to soften the nails a little bit, and then worked it cutting the nail, I have yet to find anything easy to cut her nails with, but it did the job. I guess I can’t complain. You can’t use regular nail clippers because it absolutely won’t work.
