However, as one gets older, stomach acid naturally gets reduced requiring more of this HCL supplement. I've been executing Usage 2 below for many years because of this. Usage 2: Taking PPI pills can take the stomach acid to near zero. In my opinion, the side effects of near zero are completely eliminated by taking a few of the HCL pills with meals. Larger meals means more pills (I limit mine to 4). I've been totally free from acid reflux for many years without side effects.

**Q: Is this pepsin from porcine?**
A: Hate to put Michael P out of business, but Nutricost told me "The source for our pepsin is aspergillus niger."

**Q: Is this supplement completely vegan?**
A: It only says “gluten-free + NON GMO

**Q: On the label it looks like hci but is it really hcl?**
A: The L is usually lowercase because it's H Cl.  So yes, that last letter is an L and not an i :)

**Q: How large are these capsules? (A photo against a ruler would be great, if possible.)**
A: The pill is the second largest capsule made for humans, size 00.  It's basically a horse pill.

I had to buy size 1 empties and transfer it to them so someone who takes them doesn't choke on them.
