My 9-year-old wanted it for a birthday last year, which surprised me, but he enjoys molding the textures as a way to relax at the end of the day. The colors are bright and shiny, and the sand stays together well when molded. He does still get some outside the tray, but at least it helps some. It's inexpensive, so it's a good value. When they were younger, both my children really loved playing with the sand and the molding parts.
