A pal on Cloudy Nights figured out that we could fix these cables by pulling back the rubber boots and swapping the positions of the red and black connectors. I upgraded my rating to a 3 but the materials and fundamental design of these cables rate a 5! It's a shame that we had to fix them ourselves because they are an otherwise great product.(Original Review)I have purchased several sets of these cables that have reversed polarity!Although the price, 14AWG wires, and Anderson Powerpole connectors are great, the REVERSED POLARITY defect is a real deal breaker! This problem is apparent at a glance whenever you attempt to connect these cables to a standard Anderson Powerpole connector. Red will not mate with red because these cables are built wrong! When you look at the face of the connector with the locking lugs on the bottom, the Red (positive) connector should be on the left side. On these cables the red connector and positive terminal are on the right. I have reported the problem to Amazon Customer Service.This problem apparently originated at the manufacturer, and it has been evident for months. My friends and I have tried to order replacement cables, but they all came with reversed polarity. I am an amateur astronomer, and this manufacturing defect could kill my gear.If it were not for this polarity issue, these cables would be a great product. I hope that the manufacturer resolves the problem so that Amazon can stock cables that are safe to use.

Ordered two sets. Both had a cable that had an incorrect powerpole arrangement. The black and red parts of the connector were not assembled correctly. Returned these and asked for replacements. One of the replacements was correct. The other set had both cables with red and black connectors assembled incorrectly. I discovered that I could slide the rubber boot off the connectors, slide the red and black parts to disconnect them, reconnect them in the correct configuration, and then slide the rubber boot back in place. The wiring was correct. Just the red and black connectors were put together wrong.So you should check these before using them.I like the quality of the components and would have given a 5 star review. But I'm giving it a 3 star review because I shouldn't have to fix the product after receiving it.
