A: Hard plastic
I think the hippo looks realistic. I do educational talks about my trip to Africa, and this had plastic figure gives me an example to pass in the audience.

A: 5 inches long and ~2 inches tall and ~1.5 inches wide.

A: My figure doesn’t need a any kind of battery. Don’t know what their talking about. Great figure though!

A: No, there are no moving parts on this toy figurine.

Hippo was a must have as we slowly build up a Shleich collection. They are the best play animals in my opinion, even if they're a little pricey. My one complaint is the paint definitely wears over time. However for how much they're played with it's bound to happen. Looks wise they're so detailed and realistic. They put others to shame when they're side by side. My son plays with these every single day. He grabs one for the car, takes them in the bath, plays with them in the sandbox, brings them to the kitchen table to eat. We love them. This guy in particular is really big and cute. My advice would be to add the ones you want to your saved for later on Amazon and get them when the price drops. The price can fluctuate several dollars per animal based on seemingly nothing so if you have a little patience it will pay off. For reference it is April 12 2021 this hippo cost $7.99.
