Street Fighter Alpha Generations [DVD]

I liked this StreetFighter DVD action and adventure movie. I was impressed by the mint condition of the Video and DVD case. Very prompt delivery and great quality Manga Anime Film . It works on my DVD Player. I will use it again to watch Manga. It plays and works well on Video Player. Brilliant sound quality and excellent Picture quality.

Good but overall a bit short

The main thing I thought watching this is why does it exist? It claims to be a prequel to Street Alpha, but clearly isn't. The best way to really describe it would be as an epilogue to the Alpha film. Ryu and Sakura didn't actually meet in that, so it could conceivably be set after it. The only other way this could really work continuity wise is as a sequel to the Street Fighter II V series. The story itself is almost pointless. Ryu fights Akuma/Gouki. That's it. You do get a couple of quite nice flashbacks into Akuma's past, but it's nothing anyone was really clamouring for. Some of the animation in this one is quite nice (the spirits and the effect the Hadou creates), while some of it is less impressive. Overall, it's worth a look if your a die hard Street Fighter fan, though you'll be wondering why they couldn't adapt SF1 or SF3 instead. Rent it, have a look, then watch Street Fighter II (it's loads better). If you're not a Street Fighter fan, you're probably better off elsewhere.

Finally the story behind Akuma/Gouki, the street fighter series most enigmatic character explodes onto the big screen after mere cameos in the previous two offerings. The legendary battle with Goken ("Sheng Long" ) is presented well not to mention a titanic battle with Ryu. Any movie that opens with “Shun Goku Satsu” (Instant Hell Murder) deserves to be seen. Dramatic fight scenes aside this is a more subdued animation style than the original but it fits the tone of the story very well. Like yin and yang Ryu and Akuma/Gouki are two halves of one origin but constantly chasing each other. Whilst Ryu’s honourable quest to better himself as a fighter saw him come close to killing Sagat he has always refrained from murder. Akuma on the other hand is so consumed with murderous intent as a result of embracing the dark hado he kills instantly and remorselessly. The visuals are relatively opulent in particular the rendering of Akuma/Gouki is fiercely terrifying. I highly enjoyed the unexpected emotional depth of Ryu’s intimate tale of revenge. Despite a limited number of Street fighter characters the cast felt satisfactory. As an old skool fan I appreciated the slightly more mature approach to the story telling which I found a lot more compelling than the long lost evil twin little brother scenario in alpha. This works as a stand alone movie but still identifies more comfortably with the anime universe than the Udon comics.

I only bought this on DVD to fill in the collection. Otherwise, it's boring and not really worth the time or money.

I had many hopes for this movie, but the biggest down side is the lenght. It doesnt even break the 1hour barrier. Just as i was getting into it i needed more. Animation is good and generally its not bad. Im a huge street figther fan and this is a must for any collection. The movie highlights the early years of the characters when akuma was still a little sane but on the verge of being completly swallowed by the dark chi, and the murder of his master Goutetsu. Ryu, Ken, Sakura star in this plot. Capcom stop toying with us and finish this, BUT PLEASE MAKE THE FINISH THE MILESTONE FOR ALL MANGA PRODUCTIONS TO ATTAIN, AND BLOW US AWAY! i trust u will

The animation is simply awful, the charters look nothing like they do in any other street fighter game/book/movie and the story line is completely crap Very disappointed and definitely avoid this and just watch street fighter alpha Im actually a huge street fighter fan so i wish someone had told me how bad this is

I like the fact that .... it kinda has a thing where , when Street Fighter was becoming itself.... like in the making. Going back to the origins of some characters. I wouldn't mind seeing Fei-long's bio. But overall it's an awesome movie.

I don't see how it is possible to finish watching this film and not love it. It packs a lot more in the 45 minutes it has than most animated films do. The animation is incredible - a perfect blend of CG and hand drawn art. The story is great, it serves its purpose as turning on people to the Street Fighter games and giving vets reinforcement to their dedication to the series. The best Street Fighter animated film yet, this is a must buy for anyone with a remote interest in Anime or Street Fighter.

Was ich leider nicht direkt gesehen habe beim kauf ... Die DVD ist leider nicht auf deutsch. Sie hat nur deutschen Untertitel. Orginalton ist zwar ganz gut, aber die deutsche Sprache fehlte mir schon. Was den Inhalt betrifft ist der Film leider sehr kurz geraten, auch wenn es nur eine Vorgeschichte ist. Die Körper der Figuren sind ab und an ziemlich entstellt (z.B. die unterarme dicker als die Oberarme oder eben andere teile im verhältnis zueinander zu groß/klein). Die Vorgeschichte ist alles in allem ganz ok, aber wirkt teilweise etwas abgehackt.
