Actually works great ! Easy to use even for a novice, and can save your life in the worst of conditions.

I bought this for my wife to throw in her car. She's a bit of a pepper and she wanted a fire starter stick. I found this set which comes in a nice sized pouch she can just throw into her car. It is inexpensive, so don't expect years of heavy use from the blade, but for an emergency, not will get the job done. Comes with a fire stick and the butt has a window breaker point.

There is nothing special about these sets.It was ordered on June 7, 1923The seller discribes the ferroceium rods as magnesium. While there probably is magnesium in the rods there likely isn't that high of percentage. The rods seem to be the hard type which indicates a lower percentage than the soft type which are soft because of more magnesium. The sparks are short lived. The hard are harder to scrape and generate sparks. As a consequence, they last longer.The rods using the included scrapers burr left when the scraper was stamped out gave a lot of sparks. I was able to start a fire.The rod itself is approx 3 inches long by 5 - 16s wide. It is pre-drilled at one end to allow the cord to be inserted.This lanyard has south 2 inches of woven cord which appears to be the Chinese version of para-cord which is of poor quality. The discription calls it umbrella cord. It does give a greater purchase when using the ferroceium rod. It also provides a means of keeping the scraper with the rod. The colors are as discribed.The Scraper is not easily taken off and put back on. This limits using the scraper. You can't lengthen the lanyard without redoing/reconfiguring the whole relationship.The scraper is the common version of stamped out metal frequently called a muti-purpose tool. It is 3 inches long by over 3/4 inch wide. It can be used with a map with measurements on the two sides in addition to being a straight edge. It has a cut out on one edge which can be used as a bottle opener. It also can be used to turn 1/4 inch screw bits. The scraper can be used to pry. Out of box the scraper may be functional or need some grinding on the edge to remove the protective coating and make a burr for scraping. I frequently replace it with better, one function scraper. It has a semi-circle at one end with teeth for scraping. I haven't found much use for this edge.The 3 sets came in a paper box. Each set was in a plastic sleeve. As with most of these it was Made in China.
