Finally a Blu-Ray version! Amazing!
After 10 years of existence, Finding Nemo (finally) makes it's way to Blu-Ray. I don't know why it took to long to reach the UK, but as expected the quality is amazing, I'd personally recommend the Blu-Ray version over the DVD version (since I own both). You can really feel the environment and surroundings, it's great, everything has been tuned up just nicely.I noticed there is a lack of special features in this though. I expected 'new; film release trailers, but all the trailers were of old films such as Monsters Inc (all skippable by the way) but they usually throw in a few sneak peeks of upcoming films. [EDIT] Apologies, it was the new upcoming Monsters Inc prequel film, I always skip trailers so I just assumed it was the old Monster's Inc on blu-ray or something. Sorry folks! [/EDIT] I believe this is the only blu-ray version available on Amazon (other than the 3-d version) but there were alot more features on the DVD version, for example there were lots of different screen-saver type scenery from locations within the film that you could leave on, which weren't a necessity but they were really nice to look at, there were about 6 locations (iirc) on the DVD version, but only one on the Blu-ray. Like I said, it's just nice to have the 'extras' and not everyone will care so much, but just thought it was worth noting.Didn't seem to find any additional features over the DVD version, so there's nothing new if you're upgrading from the DVD version to Blu-ray other than, of course, the film itself. But yeah, it's what was expected, and great to watch and really great quality, as with all Disney films. For those of you who haven't had the pleasure of watching the film at all, the story starts with a tragic beginning and is about a clown fish, 'Marlin', who has moved to a new "neighborhood" in the ocean, and a shark attacks and he loses everything, except an egg (Nemo), as Nemo grows up, Marlin becomes very protective of his son and eventually loses him to a few divers after shouting at him. Marlin searches the ocean with the help of a new friend 'Dory' who is a very sweet character with short-term memory loss. The film is extremely heart-warming and funny, kids and adults alike will love it, I really don't get people who just yell "This is a kids film". It's for ALL AGES, unfortunately there are people who just label ANY animation as a "kids film", don't be fooled by these idiots, it's a film that everyone can watch and will enjoy.

Better on blu-ray
I loved this film when I saw it and so the chance to own it on blu-ray was too much temptation. I love the clear picture and enhanced colours. Now, what to do with the DVD.

Finding Nemo- Blu Ray Review
You know the film & it's story so lets get to the point, is the blu ray any good?Well I'll start by saying a star is lost instantly for the lack of extra content. I'm generally not that interested by much other than the film but it's getting on my nerves how film companies, Disney in particular, are aiming for a double dip into consumers pockets. This has no worthwhile extras and you just know that an all singing, all dancing 2 or 3 disc affair will be in the pipeline.I could hack this a little more if it weren't for the fact that the US gets it's all bells & whistles releases straight away for this release, (the same happened with the incredibles). The UK is being gouged.Whinge over what about picture & sound? Well the sound is certainly improved over the DVD version as you would expect. Detail in particular is placed much wider out around the 4 rears in Disney's usual expert 7.1 remastering process. Voices are tracked all around as are background effects. I would have to say that low frequency effects are perhaps a little more subdued than I would have hoped for. This is highlighted well during the whole 'Bruce the shark' sequence which could perhaps have dropped the bass a few fathoms more for my liking? You can adjust your settings of course but if everything is set up fine for all my other blu rays then why change for this one? When the mines explode the depth is cut off jus a little to quickly, a little more rumble wouldn't have hurt! The picture though is without any fault for me though & is what makes this a worthwhile purchase. Extremely crisp and fluid with colours that are simply stunning. The opening minutes around the reef are superb. For me the biggest improvement can be seen at the dentists scenes where the fish tank takes on a 3D like quality, (for real if you've bought 3d of course!) and the night scene in the tank is full of shadow and reflected light that works beautifully. The film remains not just one of Pixars best but a real classic in its own right. Sweet, funny & well paced. This Bluray may not be packed with extra's & the sound just a little short of the hoped for subterranean depths that can be delivered by the best out there but the picture is just about perfect and a real pleasure to view. All in all this is worth purchasing but it doesn't quite deliver the whole package. One to be enjoyed but with a little regret. What an opportunity missed by the house of mouse.

What is there not to like in this film
What is there not to like in this film? I have always thought that this was one of the most visually beautiful films ever made, as well as having a lovely story. Initially when I first watched this on Blu-ray, as opposed to my old DVD version, I didn't think that there was much difference in the quality but as the film progresses it just gets more and more beautiful. I also like the message in the film - bad things happen but if you persevere it will all be alright in the end. Every time my grandchildren watch this, I have to stop and watch it yet again too.

A Pixar classic
came back to this on bluray after a hiatus of many years. This film has not aged at all, it's still funny and emotionally engaging, the animation is crisp and stunning. There are too many classic moments to count : a sign of a truly great film. Dory speaking whale; the "fish are friends not food" meeting; the submarine; every scene in the dentist's office;the jellyfish...this is a wonderful film and if you haven't seen it yet, why not?!!
