Great value Soldering Station
It came very well packaged! and comes with everything you will need to get goingThis soldering station is incredibly valuable, boasting top-notch quality. Its impressive ability to reach 480°C within just 30 seconds means you can dive into soldering without delay. The temperature is adjustable between 180 and 480 degreesI have some solar powered battery operated outdoor lights and I replaced the batteries for some stronger longer lasting cells that caused the battery contacts to melt and became detached so the main reason of getting this unit was to repair this :) which I'm pleased to report has worked a treat!I've not needed to use it again since but happy to know that it is there when i do need it again.

A compact and convenient soldering kit.
This compact soldering station is a little smaller than the Yihua one I tried recently (shown in one of the photos for comparison), and it is simpler and considerably cheaper. The principle is the same: a base unit with temperature control and a dock for the iron itself, plus tip cleaning foil and sponge and a removable solder reel holder on one side.In this unit, the iron does not unplug, but is permanently wired to the front of the base - with a much thicker lead than the Yihua. This is a pity in a way, because the lighter lead would make the iron more manoeuvrable and agile. I am not sure why it is thicker, because the power ratings are similar. The unit is switched on and off, and the temperature regulated, by a push button and a rotary instrument knob. The clear red LED display runs quickly through the temperature range, from 180 to 480 degrees C in one-degree increments. The temperature is reached when the display is stable. There is an auto-shutoff after twelve minutes of inactivity. The kit includes a variety of tips that can be exchanged readily when the iron is cold. There is a also a reel of thin cored solder wire, and a sponge and metal coil to go in the reservoirs on the base, plus a solder pump and even a screwdriver to help attach the reel frame to the base unit.I found the soldering station easy to use, and a great advance on standalone soldering irons. I was able to melt the solder quickly enough to tin a 10 AWG wire with no trouble - something the more expensive unit struggled with, and which might just be related to the aforementioned difference in lead thickness. This practical soldering station currently costs about £40 with the large 30% discount. I consider that good value.

Great Soldering Iron and Accessories
Great compact soldering station, attaching the wire holder is a little bit fiddly and probably not worth the trouble though it does work well. The base and some parts are a little bit flimsy but overall feels sturdy enough for it's intended use.Variable temperature control is fantastic, it's very useful being able to tune the temperature to the work you are doing to avoid component damage and heats up to temperature quickly.Good variety of tips which is quite handy, you can adjust the shape/size depending on the job you are doing and they are easy and quick to swap over.Overall, a great piece of kit, perfect for a DIYer for a range of tasks (Cars/electronics/Jewellery etc.)

Comprehensive soldering kit for the price
This soldering station has everything you need to start you off on your soldering journey. I was a little disappointed at first to see that it is made of plastic, however it is sturdy, so I will forgive that slightly negative point. I am not sure I would say that it would be appropriate for a professional who is going to use it very regularly, but for the person who needs to solder a few things every now and again and for a hobby crafter, it is perfectly adequate.I like the fact that it has a clear temperature display and heats up very quickly. The temperature can be regulated between 180 and 480 degrees, which is perfect for all jobs. There are 5 tips which are adequate for even the finest jewellery repairs (which is what I am going to use it mostly for) and tip cleaners and sponges. The kit also includes a roll of soldering wire to start you off, a tin wire holder, soldering iron holder, a desoldering pump and tweezers. So it contains pretty much all you need, although a nice touch would have been some sort of silicone mat which you can use in case the soldering tip makes contact with your table. The holder is plastic, and you have to be careful not to melt it when you are putting the soldering iron back in.To be honest, I am not going to be using it every week, but it is very handy to have for fixing things which have come apart. I currently have an old soldering iron without all the bells and whistles, and the tip is too wide for my delicate jewellery repairs, so this set is ideal. I would have liked the instructions to be a bit more comprehensive. Maybe people who have a lot of expertise will not need these, but for a beginner the instructions could give more guidance.

Heats up quickly
The media could not be loaded. This is great for my hobby electronics. The base station is made of a sturdy plastic construction and has an ergonomic layout which incorporates the soldering iron, its holder, tip cleaner and storage rack for the other soldering tips that are supplied. The base station is fitted with a UK spec plug and has an on/off switch. The temperature at the tip is controlled by a dial switch and can be set between 180°C and 480°C. There is an LED display which shows the selected temperature and shows when the iron is up to that temperature. I'm particulary impressed by how quickly it warms up to the set temperature. The base station shuts down after around 12 minutes, meaning you don't have to worry if you forget to turn it off. Also included, is a metal rack for holding a reel of solder (supplied). This can either stand alone, or conveniently attached to the main base unit. Also in the box is a selection of five soldering tips, a desoldering tool, a pair of pointed tweezers and a double ended screwdriver.Changing the tips is just a case of unscrewing the soldering iron head and placing the desired tip in. The tips do wear out, but are a standard size and replacements are available from many different suppliers.
