Teach Yourself Make the Most of Your Caravan

Essential reading for new caravanners
As someone who was about to buy his first caravan, I was looking for basic information about the equipment I would need and how things worked. There's so much you need to know - how to connect car and caravan, how to deal with a cassette toilet, how to choose a good pitch, how to reverse park, etc - that it can seem daunting. This book was very useful as it covers all the basics in a straightforward, informal style along with tips from an experienced caravanner. It was well organised and I'll be carrying this in the caravan as a handy reference guide.I would suggest that a new caravanner also purchases the Haynes Caravan Manual (http://www.amazon.co.uk/Caravan-Manual-John-Wickersham/dp/1844256782) which covers similar ground but also is well illustrated. With these two books in the caravan, I should have enough information to survive my first few forays into the world of caravanning.

A handy reference guide for the novice
I bought this guide just after the purchase of my first caravan. Some other reviews have pointed out that it's a worthy purchase prior to making your purchase to get yourself better informed. Very useful for the absolute novice although even someone with minimum experience might be inclined to feel like they're being told how to suck eggs. What I would have welcomed more of would have been a chapter or two dealing with kitting out a caravan with equipment and the pros and cons of various crockery, drapery, bedding, supplementary furniture etc for both a caravan and awning and discussions on weigh saving recommendations to have a fully kitted caravan always ready to go with minimal preparation.

Great for Beginners
If like me, you have never used a caravan, this book is a must have. This book gives so many tips and explains pretty much all you need to know. Useful if you are considering buying a caravan like me. For example, I didn't know you had to let your car insurance company aware you tow a caravan, as a tow bar is technically a modification to your car. I even had a work colleague who owned a caravan and wasn't aware of this! Great book, clear and concise. The author clearly knows his subject.

If you only ever buy one caravan book, make this it!
FANTASTIC! I bought the book for myself having done much background reading on the topic. This book should be a compulsory purchase for anyone intending going within 100 yards of a caravan! I love it & couldn't put it down. Perfectly written and a joy to read. Packed with a lifetime of experience and insight, especiially regarding caravanning in Europe. If you haven't read this, then you're not actually serious about Caravanning... Buy it for a friend with a van & show them just how much you care :) an ESSENTIAL read/own!

A must for the beginner
As a newcomer to the world of touring caravans, this guide has proved to be a Godsend to me. Up to around a month ago I really had no idea what a three-way fridge was or how 12V electrics differed from electric hook-up etc, etc, etc. This book has been written clearly with the lay person in mind and answers all those questions I had felt rather foolish to ask! Maybe seasoned caravanners may see it as a lesson in sucking eggs, but those just starting out like me will really benefit from this handy reference tool.

Don't buy without solid research! this sets you up right.....
Received today & I've started to read it. Another buyer wrote 'full of what is common sence elsewhere. I'd disagree for without this simple book you may stumble blind into a nightmare. I've brought it to prevent this for myself on what will be my 2nd purchase, when I did buy a real bad lemon on the 1st try. Well worth the few £ spend to really get to grips with the multiple ownership & usage issues that aren't just common sense!

Okay but Google search gets the same information
Its okay nothing that stands out. Its possible to get all the information contained in the book from the internet. I suppose the positive is that this way its in one place. The detail of information could be much greater but is soon becomes out of date.
