My favorite giant mugs for coffee and tea are the craft store ceramic mugs my children painted when they were little. Of course, these tend to break after years and decades of use. Especially the handles, or a chip off the edges. This repair kit has extended the life of my favorite ceramics. The gold seams where the handles were broken--or a chipped off piece reapplied--are simultaneously beautiful, and a reminder that life, in all its imperfections, and memories of our loved ones are worth cherishing. The adhesive strength is solid. The instructions are clear, and following them to the detail produces great results. Be sure to file away the sharp edges, and be generous in the amount of "gold" glue used. You're not hiding the repairs with this technique. You're turning brokenness into beauty and strength. Is it worth the $20? No question in my mind, to maintain and use these mementos. I'm not hiding these away to prevent accidental damage, and I'm not throwing them away either. I'm living my life with them. These ceramics wouldn't get a second glance at a consignment store, but you can't put a price on the little boost I get with my caffeine every morning using my favorite mugs.

My Bf recieved this handmade clay mug as a gift last year for Christmas, but our kitty knocked it over and it broke in a few pieces. He didn't want to throw it away, but wasn't sure what to do with it. This year for his birthday I knew I wanted to try this Kintsugi repair kit, but it had to be food safe and dishwasher proof so he could still use his mug. He absolutely loves how it looks with the gold. "It's even better!" Do work quickly, but dont mix so much gold paste at one time, because as it states on the box it dries in about 4 - 6 mins. Work with a piece at a time using the paste to connect two pieces together at a time. Then hold it in place for about a minute for it stay in place. After it's done it should cure fully in 48 hours, so I'll update how it upholds after it's first hand wash and especially after a run through the dishwasher

Item is practical and says what it does but you have to work in small batches and quickly as the resin dries super fast. I applied the mixture to one small piece of shard and connected the pieces, I moved to work on the next piece and the epoxy was solid. I mixed another batch and worked fast and got it done just in time. As soon as I joined that piece, the epoxy hardened again. Luckily it was only 2 pieces, but there was not enough to coat any additional cracks that did not break. Also, the picture shows it comes with some stone powder but I got two gold powders. I kind of wanted to fill in a little chip with the stone powder but I just glopped on a thick layer of the gold epoxy.

Great first kit—made easy by having all the stuff you need to do this. I just recently bought another one but now I have SO MUCH gold dust. Maybe watching the epoxy with the dust might be a thing to consider?

I used this to fix my favorite coffee mug. It is one my mom gifted me. It means a lot more now that she is gone. The instructions were pretty easy to follow and it has lasted years. Reason why I waited for this review. Dishwasher safe too!

The kit comes with a clay filler for pieces that might be missing. It says that it hardens but it does not. I wouldn’t recommend or buy again.

I had an antique Japanese fishing float that was shattered when a rowdy cat decided to play float soccer in the middle of the night. I picked up the pieces and began a search to fix it. I found this and was intrigued with the philosophy of making something lost even better. You will need to follow the directions to a tee but the result was stunning.
