Buy Trading Price Action Reversals: Technical Analysis of Price Charts Bar by Bar for the Serious Trader: 520 (Wiley Trading) 1 by Brooks, Al (ISBN: 9781118066614) from desertcart's Book Store. Everyday low prices and free delivery on eligible orders. Review: A difficult read but well worth the effort - I bought it on the recommendation of another trader who said it was the best of the three book series. I wouldn't normally have bothered as I have generally found trading books and seminars to be time wasting rip offs. I have read through it once and was sufficiently impressed to order the other two books. I will need to read it several times and build a cut and paste edited edition to get the max out of it because it's sparsely illustrated and the prose style is appalling. A picture is worth a thousand words but this author seems to generally prefer the thousand word option. I give it 5 stars because it does what it says on the cover and it's the only book I have seen in years with ideas I can mesh into my style of trading. Review: a must read! - This trading book series is absolutely outstanding! I've read many trading books over the years, but nothing compares to this one. It’s incredibly well-written, and everything is so easy to understand, even for someone who’s not an expert. The insights are practical, and the strategies are presented in a way that you can actually apply to real trading situations. I’ve learned more from this series than any other book I’ve read. If you’re serious about improving your trading skills, this is a must-read. Simply the best! Highly recommend it to anyone looking to elevate their trading game.

a good purchase a little deep and over the top for me but does contain some good stuff if you can manage to read it.

Very difficult to read
This is a starter-book for the serious novice, i.e. someone who already has background knowledge or someone who is on the cusp to being consistently profitable. If the reader wants context, I suggest reading Andrew Lim first. Al Brooks thoroughly covers all aspects of reversal trading & it is obvious he knows what he is talking about. Unfortunately, the book is written in a stream-of-consciousness style. I found myself reading & re-reading the same paragraphs over and over again, so as not to lose the thread. This was tedious & unenjoyable and I am unable to recommend this almost incomprehensible book.

Someone's thesis
Ok. Over the last 10 years of trading I have consumed an intangible quantity of trading material. So when I saw the 5 star reviews of these books, I was compelled to read them. But oh boy where do I start?! It is clear the author has a great deal of knowledge. In my mind there's no doubt. So thats a positive. For the negatives, there are a few, and its not easy to fully articulate here, but Ill be as succinct as possible. In summary it reads as though this is someone's trading notes, or put another way an academic thesis on various ideas on trading in general. Its excruciatingly difficult to glean what information the author is trying to convey and even harder to derive and practical real world application from the thesis to execute on the live market. If I could subjectively assume what the author was thinking, it may be along the lines of "well this info makes perfect sense to me" For some examples, the ideas dont 'flow' well. Its feels a lot of jumping around within the same chapter or references ideas from past or future chapters, so the reader will easily loose their train of thought or thread. There are a distinct lack of charts and chart references to back up the words. The authors may have hypothesized that if a picture paints a thousand words then ten thousand words and no pictures somehow would paint a video. I could go on a bit more, but It feels like this was written from an ego point of view ( look how much info I know) as opposed to educating the reader in a clear and concise manner.

Do not buy this book! It is a disaster. The negative reviews are correct. It is unreadable and I really doubt Al Brooks trades at all.

This incredible trilogy (Trends, Ranges, Reversals) is a must for any price action trader!! It’s in the podium along with Bob Volmans’ book (more FX oriented). These 3 books are a price action masterpiece. Very specialized in the E-mini 5 m chart, which is ideal for a day trader or scalper, but the same principles can be applied on major global markets. For example, NDX100 looks very similar to S&P500. Once you have read the classic basic books which are for free on the internet (candlestick patterns, support, resistance, trendlines, supply-demand zones, etc..), then these 3 books are highly recommended. If you are a beginner, it might be difficult to get all the contents at once. In my opinion, it shouldn’t be the first book you read in this field. For me the 3 books are perfect. Just one thing is missing from my point of view: more graphical analysis (where to place the entries, SL and exits), as trading is more graphical than literary. The most important aspect of the books is that Al teaches you to understand what’s happening in the market, and then, you decide where you place your stops, exits or entries. As in trading nobody has “The Truth”, the book’s written in a way that it’ll make you understand that every trader is unique, but the market’s the same for all. He teaches you; how two different traders can be winners at the same time, in opposite directions whether you are a bull or a bear. Both understand the market, both see clearly its structure and even taking opposite trades, they can be both winners, depending on their risk management, chart speed, etc. The most important thing to keep in mind is that: HE TEACHES YOU TO UNDERSTAND HOW MARKET MOVES. Besides Volman’s book (FX), I’ve never read something similar. I’m giving 5 stars, even if I was expecting at least 200 charts graphically analyzed rather than explained. If you have persistence and time, these 3 books ARE A MUST!!
