I only use the motion sensors when we are away. for us, in a small house, the motion sensors are a bit of a PITA when we are home, so I set them up to only turn on when when we are away. I also installed this one upside down, these devices can sense movement forward, and in a 90 degree angle to the left, the right, and downward. Even though I have the pet filter tuned on, my cat would still trigger it. So I installed it upside down, so that it would sense forward, left, right and upward.
