Root FarmSeed Starting Kit - 50 Pods

This review is for the Seed Starting Kit and Light. The seed starter is a plastic base with peat cubes that are ready to go, nothing to add except a bit of water. They arrive pre-moistened and ready to use. They are for use in a hydroponic system but I am using this system as a starter base for flowers to grow outside. I am trying both seeds and cuttings of plants in two sections and both are growing with a strong root system. It is very easy to set up and get your seeds started right.The tray itself has individual compartments and is made of a good quality light weight plastic that should last for several seedings by replacing the pods. Pods are available from other manufacturers that are reasonable. I am running the light around the clock to get them started but will wean the seedlings off into a 12 hour cycle when I get closer to transplanting outside. I live in a zone 9-10 and my growing season actually is perfect for setting out seedling in January and most perennials need to be in the ground by February to get a good start for the year. I can't wait to get seedlings in the ground and it only took about 2 weeks to get decent growth. Another 2 weeks and the plants will be robust enough to harden off.

Opened these up and they are full of mold. And smell terrible. Very disappointed because I planned on planting my seeds today. Wasted my money. I paid full price for 2 of them. Both of them are moldy

I used these for starting vegetable seeds. They are perfect! They are pre-moistened. So easy to use and tidy, the little soil balls that you put the seeds into have some magical property that keeps them whole and they're very easy to transplant. I know these are meant for hydroponics but they work great as seed starters. Will definitely use again.

I set this thing up with 25 assorted basil seed plugs (sweet/mammoth/Thai) assuming only about half would survive based on past attempts at starting seeds. Also started a few Anaheim peppers.Six weeks later I was begging friends to take some of my basil seedlings. I think I had two plugs of the 30 not germinate at all, but that could have easily been seed related. Definitely would use these again... But maybe not start as much basil.

It is amazing how fast this root farm seeding kit works. I planted seeds, added a grow light (available as a separate purchase) and presto I had vegetable sprouts. It is a great feeling to see this happen and the design of this kit makes it easy. You just put your seeds in the hollow of the peat moss cube and add water and wait. This system is designed for the root farm system but it could be used for other systems too.

Easy to put together, flexible use options for hanging or standing, makes happy plants!

So much smaller than the photo,the price is outrageous,the customer service is awful,I recommend no one order from this company
