Great for late nioght TV
I am starting to have more difficulty picking out dialogue on TV, and also want to listen to TV at a natural volume when my wife has gone to bed. I have a good pair of headphones - Audi Technica ATH W1000x, but even so I have been underwhelmed by the sound quality when plugging them into the TV headphone socket. So I was looking for quality DAC with a optical input so I take the digital sound off the TV optical outlet. But couldn't find anything suitable and available for less than the £400 odd you'd pay for a Chord Mojo. The Lindy was the only reasonably priced option I found, and I was more than a little sceptical, but thought that if it was a mistake it wouldn't be an expensive mistake.Well - I was really pleasantly surprised. The difference between connecting to the TV headphone socket and connecting to the DAC was night and day. Watching a football match on Sky I could hear the crowd noise far more clearly - I could make out what they were singing, quite unlike the blurred sound over the TV speakers or the headphone socket. Switching to films - dialogue was much clearer, detail in the sound coming through, soundtrack had more impact. Then switching to music channels and what I assume is still quite compressed music - but MUCH better, more bass, clear stereo effects, clearer lyrics, more detail.I might add that I can also listen to the TV channelling sound through to a Naim system, which has more substance to it - but actually dialogue comes through clearer via the Lindy. I would describe the sound as clear and detailed rather than full.Any faults? Well - it isn't exactly audio-furniture, and the volume wheel is a bit crude. But at least it has a volume control, and it is easy to tuck out of sight. It comes with a power supply, by the way, which some don't.So, I'm very pleased. This ranks as one of the best sound upgrades I have done. I am sure that something like the Mojo is better still, but at this price it is a bargain.

Solves the Problem
I bought this to pair with a new Samsung TV which like many modern digital TVs does not have a headphone socket. It connects using the TVs optical port and provides a 3.5mm headphone output. It incorporates the very necessary headphone amp. Works superbly well.

Tremendous and value for money
This does just what it is suppose to do. It takes an SPDIF or digital coax signal (switchable) and converts it to high quality analogue audio to feed to your amplifier or to feed directly to your headphones. I use it with both top end Sony ear buds and Sennheiser headphones. Sound is impressive, far above its cost suggests.

Great device
Does exactly what it claims.I connected it to a Samsung TV, using the optical input.Very easy to set up, with clear markings on all connections. The volume adjustment very useful from zero to maximum volume(which is really loud!).I highly recommend it for this kind of usage. Please note that there is no on-off switch.
