There was a lot of room left in the cap (my hair is twisted up). I pulled the cap down over my ears and had a tight seal the entire time. The back of my hair did get wet when the therapist was doing work on my neck and had to manipulate my neck, close by the backs of the swim cap. That was the only reason water got it.
