This is a great hand mixer. I've used it for soups and sauces and it does a very good job. It blends evenly and quickly. It might only have one speed, but it's certainly powerful enough. And it's very easy to clean. The end chrome part just twists off to be cleaned with soapy water under the tap (or I guess can be put in the dishwasher), while the white part can be wiped down with a cloth. I have not used the beaker so far as have blended directly in the saucepan, so I can comment on that, other than it helps with storing the thing. And size-wise, it doesn't take up much room to store either. I thought the price was reasonable too, so all in all I am happy and would recommend.

Great value for money. I bought this to replace a Braun stick blender given to me about 40 years ago. It was still going strong but the plastic casing had developed a crack (with age) and it was looking a bit sorry for itself. So after a bit of research I decided on another Braun. I bought the plain blender, no accessories needed as I just want to use it to blend soup in a pan. It did come with a plastic beaker thing which I have no use for...more clutter! Compared to the old one it seems much more powerful. I noticed that if I held it vertically it stuck itself on the bottom of the pan by suction. Once I started holding it at more of an angle, all was well and it made a great job of blending a big pan of vegetable/lentil/split pea soup. Best of all was the ease with which it comes apart for easy cleaning. My old one didn't separate and it was a nuisance keeping the electrical parts out of the water. No such problems with this - a simple twist to put the blade section on and off. So I recommend this stick blender to anyone who wants a simple gadget without all the bells and whistles!

I previously purchased a similar Bosch Blender for more than double the price of this one and it stopped turning the spindle after literally just days over a year. What a shame you can't get replacement parts when the motor was perfectly fine. I hate this throw-away culture! I was sceptical about this blender being so much cheaper but decided, after reading other reviews, that it was worth a try. It is amazing! It blends much better than the old one as the blades are lower down plus it is sooo much quieter and feels much more powerful. Definitely proof that you don't always get what you pay for. This might not outlast the old one (although I expect it might) but since it cost less that half price I can afford to buy another one and still be quids in. Highly recommended.
