Book not worth
Knowing the author, expected insightful & inspirational narration of how a path breaking institution like ICICI was built & established. But author avoids touching it and instead narrates some run of the mill, incidents of corruption and political interference with cursory details, which nobody is interested to know by purchasing such an expensive book.Very disappointing.

A wonderful book
This wonderful book is a must-read for three reasons. First, it shows clearly that judgement is at the heart of being a good banker - or good professional in any field. Second, it is a statement of integrity - doing the right thing in the face of pressure from the great and the good. And third, it is possibly the only recollections of a banker that will make you laugh out loud. (The story of the white shoes is a perfect example.)

Great lessons in values and leadership
Loved this book - Mr. Vaghul seems to deliberately avoid celebrating his role in the incredible transformation of ICICI from a development finance institute to a financial juggernaut. As does he avoid any attempt at self promotion. This book is about stories that make one “reflect” on the value of doing the right thing in the most difficult of circumstances, whatever be the payoff’s in the short run. Mr. Vaghul is a delightful story teller and the book is a speedy and delightful read - not just for those in banking but all.
