Essential for doorbell camera
Actually think this is essential for the tapo doorbell camera, it charges very fast and it's quite cheap. It's really important for being able to switch out the batteries especially if you live in a high footfall area. It works just like the other battery as it is the official one, so functionality and performance are the same and is the same size as the battery that comes with it. There is a cable for charging which is quite short but you don't need that to be a long charging cable anyway. It is micro USB so you will probably have a longer one at home anyway.

If you have one of the cameras, it makes sense to have a spare battery.
Like all TP-link Tapo products these are clearly well made, the batteries are self-contained and solid. They charge via a USB cable, and have an indicator light to signify charging and fully charged. It does take several hours to charge, but once in the Camera they will keep it powered for months with normal use i.e. triggered a few times a day. The battery power level is clearly displayed in the (very good) app, which can be viewed without opening the camera view, but its a good indication of when to replace/recharge as it is also possible to charge the battery without removing it from the camera. Although I personally prefer to have a spare charged and ready to exchange when the battery in the camera is low on power, ensuring the camera is out of action for a small amount of time. Of course there may be a requirement to replace a battery that is at the end of its life cycle at some time in the future, but these batteries appear to be built to last and will not need to be constantly recharged the same way as other batteries. The only issue for me is the price of the battery pack, I think they are a little over priced currently, but they have not been sold separately for long. So, maybe the price will come down or legitimate alternatives will become available.

Bulky - contributing to aesthetics of the product it is used for
Battery lasts for about 3 months in a reasonably busy street with 10 to 20 or so activations per day in the Tapo doorbell. I think the doorbell pack should include a second battery as standard. Who wants an inactive doorbell for the duration of the battery recharging ? The overall size of the battery pack contributes to the blocky width of the final product, which is a shame as the functionality of these doorbells is very good / excellent and zero subscription when compared to its rivals.

Very handy
Heading a spare means you don't need to take your doorbell offline for several hours at a time, so it's been very handy. It's had three recharge cycles, and worked perfectly

Good spare for a quick swap out ๐
I bought the D230S1 video door bell which came with one removable battery that takes 7 to 8 hours to charge and at ยฃ24.99 it was good value for the money and is rated at 6700 mAh the same storage capacity as the original and super easy to swap out so there is no down time for the bell because while your waiting for the battery to charge you can bet ya bum something is going to happen it's a good battery at a good price so no downtime for your bell ๐
