‘Jaisalmer’, created by Evelyne Boulanger in 2002 for the Comme Des Garcons ‘ParfumsSeries 3 Incense’ range, is a wonderfully evocative fragrance, suggesting the quietlymysterious interior of a Greek Orthodox church after mass is over with the smoke fromthe thurible still hanging in the air and mingling with the warm smell of beeswax candles.Although relatively short-lived on the skin I find it, nonetheless, thoroughly intoxicating!(Mark Buxton did something not dissimilar a couple of years later for the same outfit with‘Comme Des Garcons 2 Man’ but Mlle. Boulanger’s opus has far greater subtlety and magic).A tad esoteric perhaps but utterly enchanting.
