Better Value than Leucillin? My Honest Take on Bugalugs
Any pet owner knows that sinking feeling when you spot a red, inflamed eye or a raw patch on a paw. You want a pet wound spray that helps immediately without causing more stress. I’ve kept BUGALUGS Wound & Skin Dog Antiseptic Spray (200ml) in my "little pack" for several months now, and it has become my go-to for as-needed care. ✨ The Transformation: Peace of Mind & Stress-Free Healing There is such a sense of relief in knowing I have a treatment on hand that specifically targets harmful bacteria to speed up healing. It gives me real peace of mind to know I can catch small issues early and prevent them from deteriorating. ❤️🩹 The biggest win is the lack of "the chase." Traditional pet antiseptics often sting, leading to a stressful game of hide-and-seek. Because Bugalugs uses Hypochlorous Acid (HOCl) - a natural disinfectant produced by a pet's own immune system - my dogs are completely calm during application. The bottle features a high-quality nozzle that produces a very fine mist; I often spray this directly onto a clean swab to gently wipe around the eyes. It is 100% non-toxic and lick-safe, which removes the worry if they try to groom themselves afterwards. 🐶❤️ Quick Summary: Pros & Cons ✅ Pros: Clinically proven pathogen control; fine-mist nozzle for delicate eye care; sting-free; excellent value for money. ❌ Cons: No moisturising properties for dry skin; 200ml bottle is large enough that it may last until the expiry date, leading to some waste. 🔍 Comparison: Bugalugs vs. Leucillin Having used both, I find Bugalugs as effective as Leucillin - both rely on the same HOCl technology to neutralise 99.99% of bacteria and fungi. However, Bugalugs offers better value for money in this 200ml size. One minor observation is that for a single-pet household, a 200ml bottle is so generous it may actually reach its expiry date before you can use it all, which can result in some waste. Targeted Use: Hot Spots vs. Dry Skin • Ideal for Hot Spots: It is perfect for moist, inflamed skin or weeping hot spots where you need to sanitise and dry the area. • A Note on Dry Skin: This formula contains no moisturising agents. If your pet has dry, flaky, or cracked skin, you’ll need to address that separately with a pet-safe balm after cleaning. 🎓 A Helpful Lesson: Allergic Inflammation vs. Infection It’s important to remember that this isn’t a “cure-all.” When it didn't help my pet’s ear inflammation, it served as a signal to see the vet. A swab confirmed it was a dog allergy rather than a microbiome imbalance. As a topical antiseptic, it cannot resolve internal immune responses. 🏥 🏆 Final Verdict If you're building a pet first-aid kit, this is a brilliant, budget-friendly safety net. It’s a 5-star tool for cleaning wounds and preventing infections. Just keep in mind it won’t moisturise dry skin, and any persistent itchy skin should be diagnosed by a vet. Note: For persistent symptoms, always consult a veterinarian for a professional diagnosis. 🐾❤️

Fantastic stuff
What can I say this stuff is great, cat had a rather nasty looking neck irritation. Before heading to the vets I thought I would give this a go, I did firstly spray but didn’t find a massive difference. BUT after putting it on a clean cotton pad and cleaning with it then putting a decent amount on a cotton pad and holding on the wound for 30 seconds then giving him a spritz with the spray, his neck irritation is almost gone all fur grown back. No scent, great spray quality. Cat didn’t seemed bothered by it once he realised it was helping. Would definitely use again

Seemed to speed up healing
Got this when my cat arrived home with a cut on his chin. Easy to apply via the spray and healed well.

Excellent Product
Bought it because my cat managed to catch his ear on something and it was an open wound; not enough for an expensive vet visit, but enough to need antiseptic treatment. I trust the brand, having bough tother items so bought this and it has worked a treat! We spray it onto his ear initially, which he didn't like the noise of, so then sprayed it onto a cotton pad and dabbed it on twice a day. It worked its magic and the scratch is now healed well.

Not sure if it did any good or not
Bought this for our dog as he had scratched his neck so hard he had broken the skin. Each time it started to heal he would scratch the scab off and we were back to square one. I bought this hoping it would speed up the healing process and prevent or at least deter him from scratching. I'm sure it helped to keep the wound clean but it did not appear to make any difference in terms of healing time or reducing his tendency to scratch. In the end we had to put a child's tee-shirt on him to prevent him scratching the wound. I'm sure it will come in handy at some point for cleaning grazes and scratches.

Bugalugs cat wound & skin antiseptic spray
Our experience when we used this product left us genuinely impressed. Its effectiveness was truly remarkable, and in a difficult situation that was a Godsend for us. The youngest feline member of our family was bitten during a fight, and when the wound deteriorated and started showing signs of infection we couldn't afford the vet fees due to recent financial struggles. Our only option was to attempt to treat it at home, so we decided to try Bugalugs wound and skin antiseptic spray for cats, which cost £9.99. To prevent her from licking or scratching the area we also bought a soft collar cone for £5.99 and began our own amateur treatment routine. After a few days there was a noticeable improvement as the inflammation decreased and the skin went from angry red back to its usual pink. Several more days saw it reduce in size, forming scabs around the edges, and apart from the fur growing back, it went from a significant wound that was bleeding and weeping to pretty much fully healed in just over 2 weeks. We spent only £15.98 on a soft collar cone plus the Bugalugs spray, which can treat a number of different skin ailments, but is also vegan friendly and nontoxic, making it suitable to use on practically any domestic animal. For anyone facing a similar situation to ours, when you compare this to vet fees, which start at £60 just for a consultation, the choice is clear. The Bugalugs spray actually works, so don't delay, add it to your first aid kit today! I promise you won't regret it, this stuff is amazing!
