This was one of the most engaging and enjoying reads in the genre in a long time. The author sucks you in and you truly feel like a part of her world. You learn to respect the art in a pure way and appreciate the rich cultural (and her personal heritage) of Hoodoo. The practices are simple and adaptable, which makes it a perfect foundations book. I will absolutely purchase other books from this author.

Hoodoo for Life was everything I needed in one place. The convenience of being able to find what I needed within one book was great. It was an easy read that provides detailed instructions on how to do the work as well as the background on the practice. Great book, gives warnings, uses, many complete recipes with instructions. However, many instructions include reading scriptures from the Christian bible. Christianity is based on African spiritual systems but has been changed by European popes and kings for centuries. Sure, ancestors were forced to use it, but they knew the correlation to their own systems. I don't think it should be used now. Safer to stick with the truth of your ancient African systems (not even those influenced by Christianity) especially when you don't know what was changed. Many things were flipped or removed with the sole purpose of negative effects like making people docile, etc. Christianity did not have any part in the formation of hoodoo. Hoodoo already existed. The word hoodoo means "medicine, roots, heavy" in both Akan and ancient kemetic (Egyptian) languages. That is the origin. This science is 10s of thousands of years more ancient than a few hundred years of slavery. I do appreciate this book. Great for beginners. Easy to follow. Straight to the point. Written by someone who is born in the culture, not an outsider. Very in depth. Thank you Angelie. I have yet to come across another book as helpful on the topic

I really enjoyed the book. Definitely a keeper. I am learning a lot. Enjoyed the stores and wisdom. I definitely recommend this book.
