Great Book for the Beginner
I have the "same" book from Orvis for fly fishing, and I love it. So I picked this book up after I began upland hunting and am equally impressed. I only wish that I had bought it sooner.

Orvis is quality even in books !
As expected , this volume covers all concerns about shotgunning. To even include an entire chapter on gun dogs. Book looks good. Has quality paper and cover and is featuring pleasing colors and multiple pictures. Hours of entertaining discussion and training for the beginner shotgunner ( like me ) and the seasoned.

The writing style is excellent for instruction
The writing style is excellent for instruction. Clear, repetitive when the point is a major one, more relaxed when the point is a minor one. I thoroughly enjoyed even the sections about types of shooting I'm not interested in, like duck hunting. Not everyone is fortunate enough to learn this while growing up. Not everyone can learn from a mentor. For the self-driven shooter starting out alone, this packs a punch of information.

Orvis Guide to Beginning Wingshooting
This is a good book. It is clearly written and a good book for anyone getting started in wing shooting but also great for someone with some experience that wants to get better. A number of simple pointers and steps to cleaning up your form and shooting better. Often it seems it is best to get back to basics when you want to gain advanced skill.
