Just curious why can't you use cardboard?

I honestly think putting cardboard in there could cause a fire with the heat. Maybe, just maybe tiny pieces, TINY PIECES maybe would cut up enough to not burn, but I would not and am not going to try it. I like this too much to attempt and maybe mess it up.
