Worn daily, continuously on my feet, CHANGE the laces
As a daily walking, hiking, working, and yardwork sneaker the Timp 4s are excellent.Comfort is the number one reason I prefer Altras, they fit my feet and give my toes room to move. Yes, I am a toe-sock person.Gripes: the base compound is soft, you will burn through a pair of Timp 4s in about four months. We walk four to six miles every day, use them for work where we stand and walk all day, keep them on for doing yard work, and use the sneakers to hike soft and hard trails.Pros: the Timp 4s are simply comfortable, the best for me Altras I have purchased over the past 10+ years. Are they right for you, I don't know, they work for me.IMMEDIATELY change the laces if you buy the dark blue Timp 4s and do not like the salmon pink laces, black laces will change the look of the sneaker.

Love, love, love these shoes!
So I have been wearing only ALTRA for almost 10 years now. I’ve owned almost every type, including their dress shoe, which I miss very much and wish they still made it. Anyway, this is about the TIMP. This shoe is outstanding and to me. It is much more comfortable than the Olympus and the lone Peak. I know it’s supposed to be the shoe in between, but I believe this is the superior shoe in my opinion. I wasn’t sure about the tongue when I first got it because it’s an odd shape and I figured that the low socks that I wear it would bother it, but it doesn’t rub my ankle or leg at all. It feels like there is extra cushioning in the shoe which is nice for comfort in long walks. To be perfectly honest after my last pair of shoes that I bought from ALTRA I was almost done with them. The Torins I bought fellas parts so fast. That I was sure they were my last pair. But I needed another pair and I decided I love this brand so much that I was going to give them another shot. And besides, I have yet to find another shoe that fits me as good as the. ALTRA do. I cannot heap enough. Praise on how much I like this shoe and the size fit just as expected. These are the main thing I wear now walking or just going out in public. I have a pair of Escalante’s that I really like as well and I believe they are starting to get a little bit jealous because they don’t get worn as much. I am not a podiatrist I am just a blind guy who likes to walk with my elderly mother and do a 5K every day at least. I want to tell you I wore art supports most of my life because of my super flat feet and since I have been wearing. ALTRA I have not worn and arch support sense. I hope this review help you in your search for a new shoe and if this is your first time with this brand, I hope you enjoy it. Happy trails.

Much improved TIMP
I really like this shoe. It has a lot more cushioning than my previous TIMPs. But my previous TIMP shoes had very little. It feels plush but has all the Altra weight saving stuff the company has been doing. So, its not as plush as Altra's were a few years ago but the comfort hasn't suffered as much as I think it did in recent years. I'd like to give it a 5 star rating but I think this shoe is definitely a forefoot landing shoe. For some runners this would be a good thing but for heel-toe rolling gates the shoe won't impress you. Far less cushioning in the heel. Too little for my taste and that is why I rated it just a 4 star shoe. Hey! Even the shoelaces appear long enough now for my crazy lacing patterns. It only took how many years? Altra is a great brand but recently see their shoes hell bent on performance to the detriment of comfort. I like comfort!Update ... maybe 4.5 stars now !1. love the shoe laces. long enough and the black stitching in them provides great grip to keep them tied2. I put a 2nd Altra sock liner in the shoe from an old pair. yup ... 2 liners. Cushioning is much better. Altra should think about selling thicker sock liners.

Go back to TIMP 2, please!
These are a good looking shoe, with a great heel loop, lots of lacing options, and solid heel support. As with my other Altras (15+ pairs?), they were ready to go out of the box with no break-in time, and an average of 10k per day on multiple surfaces. My Altra's usually last about 4-5 months, with a SuperFeet green insole... I'm 6'2" 205. However, these are falling to pieces within 2 months. The sole is slick, and my pinky toes are literally popping out. They feel much more cushioned than previous TIMPs, sacrificing control and balance. My last few rounds of "new" Altras have had the same durability issues, but not quite as bad as these. I hope they go back to their previous quality/price standards. I'm giving Topo's a try in the meanwhile.

Altra TIMPs just work for me.
These are my 6th pair of TIMPs. I’ve been using these as my all purpose running shoe. I am 46 yo, 6’1”, 185-190 lbs, and I run for fitness — at my size and age, keeping my feet and knees happy is essential for high impact exercise. I went with size 12 … and I’m one of those people who sometimes need to go up to a 12.5 in Altra because their sizing can be conservative in some models from year to year. These are not as roomy as the earliest TIMPs, but they are still high volume and work for my feet. I’ve used them on treadmill, trail, and asphalt and they perform great. One negative-ish comment with this iteration is that the tongue is much smaller than in previous generations. This isn’t a problem when running (at least not for me), but it does make putting the shoes on a little more tricky — specifically to not push the tongue into the shoe. A fabric loop would be great.

Great trail running shoes
I know have about 250 miles on the shoes. My one big complaint is the tongue will literally cut your leg if you don't wear tall socks. I typically wear no show socks. The other very minor issue is the laces are really long. Which is better because they used to be really short in earlier versions. They also don't like to stay tied even when double knotted. They drain well and have good to above average grip in most conditions. I recently ran a 50k with a lot of climbing and my feet felt great! No heal slip no blisters 👍🏻 yes I will buy again! One last thing these are definitely not for snowy and icy conditions

Very comfortable 0 rise shoe
Found the shoe very comfortable around the toe box, just using the Timp 4s for walking as I'm not a runner anymore. They were basically half price so will be my first trail runner for my old feet!
