Excellent way of making a complex topic accessible to the average person.
I really enjoyed these and was lucky enough to see a few on telly when they were aired. The subject matter isn't for everyone but if you enjoy learning about the world and universe around you and how it works you wont be disappointed with these. I would like to think that i am at least of average intelligence but i am definitely not a scientist or a physicist! Professor Cox explains the topics of the dvds in a simple and engaging way allowing the average person to understand and engage with what is being discussed very easily. I found these really enjoyable to watch and definitely learned a great deal from them. Professor Cox is to physics what Attenborough is to wildlife. Well worth a watch!

Awesome!!!
Never learnt so much about our world and about how lucky we should call ourselves to exist. And, in that light, that we MUST do more to preserve our frail place in the Universe. There is NO Planet B, no matter how many star-ships we build and launch, we still need the Earth healthy!

Simple to understand and easy to watch
3 DVD’s in the collection.2 discs per DVD.3 episodes per disc.Episodes are about an hour long each, so as you can see there is a good few hours worth of extremely interesting and well explained physics on the universe and how life begins.Narrator is very important to me. I don’t like over excited Americans rambling on for hours! Thankfully, Brian is brilliant and extremely easy to watch. He explains everything with simple experiments and explanations. And he takes you around the world. My other half is the typical girly girl, mention space and the universe and she simply doesn’t care! Even she couldn’t stop watching it!Worth every penny! I would have paid double for this!

Each episode full of wonder.
In this collection of Wonders, Prof Brain Cox manages to amaze and excite with wonderfully simple ways of explaining simple and complex scientific theories. I don't think anyone with the slightest bit of interest in science could be disappointed with this set. If you don't remember a day of science from school you'll still be able to follow these series, as they where wrote to be accessible to all. They may even make you want to learn more after they have finished. As for the Blu-Ray quality it is fantastic as you would expect from a BBC production. Each of the 3 series comes in individual cases that fit in a cardboard cover.5/5

Brian is a pure Genius, not only academically, but in the incredibly skillful & thought provoking way that he can put vastly complicated scientific things across to an everyday person, such as my self! I thoroughly enjoy all his DVDs and they are worth every penny, i hope we can see more of him on the television. If you are interested in our nature & world please buy these, you will enjoy them!

Lovely
I bought this box set, becasue my brother first got me into this series. And watching it on yt...:)Prof. Cox's enthusiasm is catching, especially when he geeks out on historic monuments documenting the sun and other celestial events. If my Chemistry professor had shown me the episode about stars creating elements, I would have been much more into it and not failed...

Five stars for the show, but take note....
I'm not an expert here, but like the other review says, this particular collection was made for British players / TV's. I have tried all three blu ray players we have and the show plays on only one of them. An LG player (I'll update with exact model later) (EDIT: LG BP125) was the one that saved me. The other two: Panasonic DMP-BD60 which played the audio, but the screen was black. And Sony PS3 250GB slim (purchased in 2010) which only had a black screen.I think Amazon should put a notice front and center on this product's page about this issue. I'm wondering if there is an official list of what blu ray players can convert or read this format and which ones can't. Disappointing to find out it doesn't work on your main player. I am in the U.S. and bought the item from a U.S. IP address from the U.S. siteand there was no indicator that it might not play correctly on U.S. players.Five stars for the show though!

Great Series and truly is a wonder!!
Excellent series! Brian Cox's presentation is reminiscent Carl Sagan's COSMOS.I must mention that the BBC blu-ray discs are zone free and play 1080 50i. Only players that are multi formatwill play the discs (i.e. LG and/or Samsung as well as others that support this format). Sony Blu-Ray players do not supportZone Free 50Hz and consequently will not play. I had to go out and buy an LG.
