Mermaids - Calm Ocean Coloring Collection: 2 (Fantasy Coloring by Selina)

BEST BOOK OF MERMAIDS OUT THERE This is a lovely book and the images are beautifully drawn, I was incredibly happy with my purchase. Selina has a unique style which is nice to see and if you ever want inspiration her website and facebook have all of her original artwork coloured for you to peruse. For me there is a slight downfall to the book set out, but as it's personal opinion I haven't dropped any stars. The book has 50 images - 2 sets of 25 so you have the option to colour these twice, which is great to share the book, if you make a mistake, or you want to try a different way of colouring said picture. So there are definitely pro's to this, however for me as the paper is quite thin, I remove the pictures and scan (for my own use only) to reprint on better paper or card (whichever takes my fancy). Due to this I feel it would be preferable to have 50 different images as the paper quality isn't great (even for pencils it has torn) and most of the colourists I know remove and scan these books. It is probably to do with the publisher more than the artist, and this book is a great price. I still highly recommend the book, as I say this is based on my individual feelings and experience of buying various colouring books.

This is without a doubt the best mermaid book I have seen and I have become quite a fan of Selina as her work can be very beautiful. You are inspired to want to colour her pictures many times over using and experimenting different colours for the same pictures. So far I have only used paint and colouring pencils which I am happy with the results. As I love pyrography I will probably trace some out on wood and paint them and varnish them afterwards which will give a new depth to these pictures. I thoroughly recommend her colouring collections of mermaids and fairies to all and will be buying more of her work.

This is a definite must have for adult colourists who like mermaids. The pictures are detailed enough to satisfy adults but not too detailed that they're annoyingly fiddly & require the use of fineliners. Given that the pictures are only printed on one side, it does mean that this book does cater to those who favour fibre tip pens over pencils. The book contains 25 different designs, but each of the designs is duplicated. This means that you could share with a friend to cut costs or enjoy exploring different mediums. I like to colour one in 'properly' with pencils to satisfy my artistic side & the other in felts when I'm in need of stress relief.

Love the main pictures but I have discovered I don't care for too much background but the Mermaids themselves are lovely to colour and because they are "fantasy" characters you can experiment with different facial and hair colours. Very good too that the images are repeated twice so when you aren't too happy with one design you can slightly alter it on the next one you do. There are plenty of good pictures too .

I feel so sad because I gave this to my neice and it was going to be my first foray into the world of colouring. The pictures were sweet, mid-range difficult i'd say or maybe easy, with lots of scope to add your own creativity in the blanks. nice paper.

This book arrived a week ago and I am having a hard time putting it down there is a total of 50 colouring pages of 25 different designs yes you get 2 of each design which I personal love as you get to do a different way of choosing what to colours, medium etc to use each of the designs are printed on one side which is really good if you want to use heavier mediums. The designs used are actually based on original artwork of Selina's some of the backgrounds contain whales, seals, turtles etc. the designs aren't as intricate as some books are. The white paper is of good quality but I would have preferred it if the pages were a wee bit thicker but that's just my personal preference. I would also would have loved it if the cover was like the JB & MM books and had that extra piece of cover that fold's over that can be used to separate the pages that you are working on again that's just my preference. I'm currently waiting on my next Selina Fenech colouring book arriving her latest one Gothic - Dark Fantasy Coloring Book Volume 6 and then I will have to get around to buying volumes 1,3 & 4.

Simple yet detailed designs. These images are by no means as intricate as some of the adult colouring books you can buy now but there is enough detail to have fun with. For me personally, the intense lines and swirls of those other books is too befuddling, so this is a nice middle ground. The paper is fairly good quality (I've used felt tip and watercolour crayons. There can be a bit of a bleed through so use a paper backing sheet just in case) The real beauty of this book is you get 2 copies of every image, allowing for different designs or a second chance in case you go wrong. Would definitely recommend.

Gorgeous colouring book. A lot of detail in the pictures and love that you get doubles of every picture. I have enjoyed colouring in this book and would recommend. Different than alot of other books. Great book for someone who loves mermaids.

Although Selina's books are called "adult coloring books" I bought this one along with 4 others (5 total) as Christmas gifts for my 7 year old who is very creative & artistic. I wanted something to inspire & challenge her more bc she & I both agree that kids coloring books are pretty much all the same cartoons with no vision. After receiving the books and reviewing them to make sure they would be appropriate, which they absolutely are, I found them to be absolutely beautiful & the perfect gift for her. When she opened them on Christmas she fell absolutely in love with them, and even better is that they have inspired her. Not only does she love learning how to color them like an adult artist (with blending, contouring, shading, ect.), but Selina has inspired & challenged her to learn how to create on a higher level with her own drawings, paintings, and so forth. I also love her coloring in Selina's books. I suffer from many health issues, and so I have found that whenever I get stressed or anxious I ask my daughter if I can color in one of her books (which she always says yes). I have found a new outlet coloring her beautiful drawings. They help me relax and clear my mind of whatever is happening within and around me. An even better thing about Selina's books is that there are 2 of every drawings in each book so my daughter & I can color the same picture together yet separately when we want and see how different yet beautiful we can color them.

Sono diventata una fan di Selina Fenech; come per Enchanted anche qui si viene trasportati in un'altra dimensione. E' quasi incredibile la capacità di immaginazione di questa illustratrice. Il tratto è estremamente elegante e mai banale. L'album è fatto molto bene: formato A4, ci sono due copie per ogni illustrazione, un disegno per ogni foglio e la carta non è troppo sottile. Perfetto per le matite colorate, non credo sia adatto ad altre tecniche come tempere, acrilici o pennarelli.

While I'm a fan of adult coloring books, I'd never heard of Selina Fenech and I have to admit I previously glanced at this book and from the cover decided it wasn't for me. However, the old adage holds true, don't judge a book by it's cover. After seeing a pair of beautifully colored swimming mermaids on one of my coloring forums, the colorer directed me to this book again! So I took a second look and ordered it. The lineart may seem simple and plain (and it's lacking repetitive gimmicks like Mandalas) but that's were this book shines. You can get creative with the coloring and the shading, creating lighting sources and really practising the art of color. This coloring book also features a huge variety! Unlike some coloring books I've used, patterns are not repeated and the art isn't reused again and again. Each page is a unique mermaid, with many I've never seen portrayed before. There's a pregnant mermaid and a momma mermaid, even a mermaid with an angel! If you like mermaids, your gonna love this book. Something that took me aback a little was the realisation that after the first set of drawing, there is a repeat of those drawings. I was worried this meant way less to color, but actually, with the original designs the book is plenty full. Having a copy of them at the back simply means you can split this book between two people. Or take another crack at the designs in a different color! Pros: - Each design appears twice allowing for different styles of coloring, more than one person, or restarting in the case of a mistake. - Unique mermaid designs and illustrations! - Simple lineart allows great creativity. - Simply beautiful. - Each design has a page to itself so you don't have to worry about leaning too heavy or the ink bleeding through the back. Cons: - Could be tricky for beginners as it gives a lot of freedom. I was surprised greatly, because this is now one of my favourite adult coloring books.

Ce livre de coloriage, qui a pour thème les sirènes, est juste magnifique! Les dessins sont variés, féeriques, et la qualité du papier est bonne.
