Best air purifier I’ve ever had
I love it. It’s changed everything for my allergies. It’s quiet, easy to operate, and effective. After a day of use, I noticed my bedroom and bathroom smelled differently. I bought one for my elderly Mom to help with her COPD problems. Highly recommended!

Actually quiet and works wonders!
I’ve been looking for a solid air purifier that wouldn't break the bank, and after seeing this one for around $100, I decided to give it a shot. Honestly, it’s one of the best purchases I’ve made for my home recently. What I Love: Whisper Quiet: This was the dealbreaker for me. On the lowest setting (sleep mode), I can barely hear it at all. Even on the medium setting, it’s just a very gentle white noise that doesn't interfere with the TV or sleep. Noticeable Air Quality: I have a dog that sheds quite a bit, and within two days, the "stale" pet smell in my living room was completely gone. The air just feels... crisper. Sleek Design: It’s compact enough to sit in a corner without being an eyesore, and the controls are super intuitive. The Verdict: If you’re looking for something effective without spending $400 on a high-end brand name, this is the sweet spot. It does exactly what it promises and stays quiet while doing it. Definitely worth the $100 investment if you have allergies or pets!

Difficult to understand use, no clear on and off
I like the effectiveness of this air purifier so as far as performance goes, I think it should have five stars. Since there’s no way of testing air quality and we just have to go on faith, I’m guessing that it’s a good quality machine. However, clearly it was designed with aesthetics in mind and not practicality. It’s difficult to turn on an off or to know how to turn it higher or lower. You do this with a series of taps on the top ring. It’s very Star Trek in a very unnecessary way. I love Star Trek. I love everything about Star Trek. I don’t think even they would’ve kept this on the enterprise because it’s too annoying to use , however, having said that I just turned mine on low and keep it on all the time. I have noticed that environmental allergies bother me much less this year. If you are into the super modern look and have the gray walls that all designers think everyone should have now, you might love this look and usage facility might not bother you. I don’t think an older person would be able to use this easily. The only thing that lets you know if it’s on or off is a light that shines for a moment when you tap it. There is delay in the action so you don’t know if you’ve actually turned it up higher or turned it off for a few seconds, so if you’re impatient like me and tap it again, you’ll probably accidentally turn it off and have to start all over again . Again, weird design, leaving you confused. Is very silent and that’s a big plus. It probably deserves one more star, but I’m too annoyed with the lack of the on and off clarity to increase my stars. Here’s an idea, how about somebody make a vintage looking air purifier with simple on off switches, make it look like a vintage radio. I bet that would be a big seller, the nice old-fashioned knobs. On and off. I have no idea how I’m going to change the filter when it’s time to change it, the whole thing is a mystery as to how it’s assembled, and I wish they would just include a few extra filters with the purchase so then you weren’t trying to figure out what kind of machine you have and which kind of filters to buy six months later. I’d be willing to pay extra to have the extra filters delivered with the purchase. If I sound annoyed it’s because I am. But I’m sure the machine is good quality. Updated review 9/11/24: The machine is actually silent on low. It’s been on all day and I didn’t even know it. You literally cannot hear it at all on its lowest setting. It also did a great job getting rid of a smell that was from something burned in my kitchen. So it is a very effective machine. I also now am wondering if the thing that I found fault with is actually a benefit to older people with arthritis if they cannot turn a knob, then just tapping the top might be very helpful to them. In fact, anyone with mobility issues could put this beside their bed and just tap it at night in the dark and it would be easy to use for them. Because it is silent, it will not work for you as a white noise machine. I’m now going to add a star. Xo

I’m so glad I bought this for cat litter dust!!
I bought this to limit the dust and smell of cat litter in my small apartment and it’s AMAZING. I have it running on low or medium most days in the room with the box and not only does it practically eliminate the smell of the clay litter, it reduces the dust!! I was worried to spend so much on an air purifier but it was so worth it!! Plus it’s really quiet on low/medium. High is louder but the sound is constant which makes it easy to tune out.

most magical device in my office
I just received this amazing, magical, fantastic device and HOLY COW does it work wonders. I bought this for my home office, which has been plagued by dust, cat dander, and whatever other crud builds up in my house. I constantly have to use compressed air dusters to keep my devices clear, but that just throws the particles into the air. I've tried other purifiers in the past, with mediocre results. This thing ran on medium speed for about a day and it's made a HUGE difference already. I no longer see the usual layer of ickiness across my desk, laptop, monitors, keyboard, etc. It's very quiet - I forgot it was even running until I realized how clean everything is! My coworker (an orange tabby named Tuck) is a little wary of it, but after a few hours he stopped glaring at it and went back to his regularly scheduled nap. Based on how great this works in my small office, I plan to get the larger capacity version for my open living room. I expect I'll be just as thrilled with that one.

does exactly what it promises.
A warm, short positive review for the **Blueair Blue Pure 511** based on the product page you’re viewing [amazon.com](https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08KPJCDN6?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_fed_asin_title&th=1): --- I’m really happy with the Blue Pure 511. It’s small, quiet, and immediately made the air in my room feel fresher. On the lowest setting it’s practically silent, and the compact design fits anywhere without being noticeable. I love that the pre‑filter is washable and the whole unit is simple to use—just tap and let it run. For the price, it’s an excellent little purifier that does exactly what it promises.

Blueair is hands down the best.
Put this next to any other air purifier around the same size and price, no contest. I just returned a LeVoit I bought for the same price. Boy was that dumb. Louder than hell, super weak air flow, and smelled like toxic plastics. It was absolute CRAP. This Blueair is very quiet, has amazing air flow, smells like clean air, and looks SO much classier to boot (Scandinavian styling). I have another bigger Blueair in my office. It's been going for years (+ filter changes). Still works perfectly. Sometimes you get what you pay for. But other times, even when you pay the same, you don't. So shop smart. There's a reason good brands are good and cheaper ones aren't!!

"Interesting" Pre-Filter concept
As far as doing the job - removing dust and pollutants from the air - it pretty much works like most other "air purifiers" available with HEPA filters. The design is a bit stupid. I thought the fabric (with a choice of colors) that fit around the bottom portion was for looks. I was surprised when I realized it was the prefilter. So all the larger particulates and dust sit on the outside of the unit until you decide to take it off and wash it. I found that all that collected material didn't want to stay put there - especially if you pick up or move the unit - the prefiltered material comes off to hopefully be prefiltered again. Removing this outside fabric isn't easy without getting your fingers into the HEPA filter that it covers, and putting it back on can be a bit of a battle. Unless you buy a second fabric prefilter the unit is out of service until you can wash and dry it unless you run it without a prefilter. Nicely the fabric for the prefilter comes in a wide choice of two colors - I chose to get the other one for variety, lol! Your home decorator may find that ruins their carefully thought-out color scheme for the room - not that the two choices are all that different. I was hoping for maybe something in a bright red as a contrast to the blue or grey offered, but no such luck. When they say you have a choice in colors it's sort of like the old Ford automobiles that advertised you could buy them in any color as long as it was black. Criticizing the fabric colors is a bit picky - it's the idea of the prefilter open to the air as the outside cover for the HEPA filter, the difficulty of removing, washing, drying then putting it back on while the filter is unusable that's stupid. Having a reusable prefilter does save buying a new one every time it gets dirty. Whether the trade-off for that is worth it is a personal choice. It's also one I wasn't aware of when I bought it. Much is made in the literature (instructions) of the Scandinavian design of the filter invoking that clean snowy air. I think a better design would have been more useful. It's just a round HEPA filter covered in removable fabric acting as the prefilter, with the entire removable plastic top portion just where the fan sits. Oh, I almost forgot - I'm also not wild about the power cord entering the unit near the top - where the fan is - making keeping it out of the way wherever you put the thing a pain. Having it enter at the bottom and running it inside to the fan would make more sense, which would keep the thing from falling over if the cord gets pulled. All in all, it's cute and different from the rest of the HEPA air filter choices. It does the job. Putting style over function just to be different, making the prefilter the outside covering, and needing to either buy a second prefilter or have the unit out of action while you wash and dry the prefilter before replacing it is where it loses stars in my rating.
