Is Oxiclean safe for use with septic systems?

Interesting question; I assume you are concerned about the affect on the macrobiotic processes that occur in a septic tank. Since I do not have a septic system at my current address; I have lived in a home that did have a system. We did use OxiClean on occasion and did seem to suffer any adverse problems with the septic system. I would imagine that if it was used according to the directions the OxiClean would be sufficiently diluted as to have minimal impact on the septic system.

What am i doing wrong? carpet stains (coffee, pet) disappear and then gradually reappear in the same spot. is this typical of how oxiclean works?

I have never had this product work on any stains. I used it in the laundry though, never used on carpet. The problem you are having is typical of all carpet stains. I love carpet but keeping it stain-free is basically impossible. Sorry I couldn't help more. My best suggestion would be to buy a carpet shampooer and use the products that come with it. that is what has given me the best results.
