Old but good
This book is dated in places for example talking about the French Franc Tec bot in some ways it also tells of tropical illnesses becoming more wide spread and global warming. Whilst not the fastest paced book in the world it is a favourite of mine..I do like James Herbert and his death has left a gap in this British horror market that has yet to be filled (in my humble opinion). His work is well thought out and has a broad range of cultures, my only bug bear is the women characters, they seem a bit woolly unless they are evil in which case all bets are off!

Great book.
This book has gripped me from half way through and I couldn’t put it down after that. Had to read it till the end. Another gripping story from James Herbert

Poignant
Fab read, and the story is more poignant today than when it was written. Plot is fast paced and well written.

Not as Good As I Hoped.......
I loved James Herberts books and now that he is gone he will be missed a lot,he was a very good writer and I have all but one of his books now, this is the book I bought and gave away as I just didnt want to finish it,not because of the plot, which was good but the characters in it,they didnt seem real as they did in all his other books, and some of them were also very annoying too,it could just be me though as others appear to really like it,I also think it would have been far better if it had been another Ash book,, but others might disagree as we all have different tastes in books......

Friend of James
I have been reading James Herbert before kindle were invented and have passed on many a well worn paperback to friends who have also become fans. The unknown has always fascinated me and Herbert feeds that need admirably. None of us knows what mysteries have yet to unfold for us but till then I will rely on great writers to stimulate my imagination. Wonder what new pages I will turn to now ??

Beware the future
Loved it. Read and whisper syn on audible. So much if what is happening now and ways forward in the world of self healing that you believe the little lights (portents) are already here just not within your sphere. If only those who can do things and make a changes would listen instead of charging us green taxes that dont seem to be making a difference to the climate or the world at large. Portent is a powerful thought provoking book. Read and ooenyou mind to the possibilities.
