Different from typical bully sticks! It is clear these are less processed than traditional bully sticks and my girl goes absolutely wild over them. She is a mini dachshund and the chews still last several hours. Perhaps slightly less time than a traditional bully stick but she is focused the entirety of the time rather than getting bored with traditional ones. I got into bully sticks in hopes to entertain her a bit/keep her busy while I work and these surely do the trick. They are a bit more expensive, but for the time and entertainment they provide, I will surely be purchasing more.

I was a little concerned that these might be too much for my mini Dachshund Sammy, but, no worries! He has good strong teeth and good saliva flow, which is needed to soften the tissue enough to chew. Because of the portion size, I only give him one per week, when he has been especially good. And bless him, he is such a sweet dog, well behaved and loving and obeys me well. I use a knife to flay the foreskin end a bit to help him get started, then he eats the whole thing in about 45 minutes. He digests it well, no vomiting at all. All in all, a great treat for dogs with good teeth. I love giving him treats that clean his teeth and gums. For a 9 year old, his teeth are in very good condition.

My medium-sized, expert chewer loves these bully sticks, HOWEVER, for the price I would expect better quality control. This last bag I received had only 3 bully sticks and 1 of them was semi massive. I inspected this massive one before giving it to her and it did appear to be freeze dried like the others I gave her before. About 10 minutes later though, I hear her starting to crunch on something hard and then I see her struggling to chew the end bit of the stick. It sounded and looked like she was gnawing/trying to crush a raw bone NOT a freeze dried bone. Luckily, she is not territorial over food, so I was able to take it away from her quickly. Sure enough, this end bit was not freeze dried and is as dense as a real bone! My sharpest knife can’t even cut through it. If this company loves dogs, they need to implement better quality control on these bully sticks to prevent any choking or accident or hospitalization or death. Also, since I’m already upset, the price on these is insane. $16 for 1.4 oz (3 bully sticks) and one of them almost took out my baby, they lost me.

Expensive for what you get. However, my pups loved them! My dogs chewed them pretty quickly so it didn’t keep them busy, but instead used them as a “treat.” Purchased them as a healthier option to other treats. The odor wasn’t too bad. I’d buy them again for my treat rotation.

Please be sure you know what you are getting before you buy. This is the second time I ordered and I have only received 4 in the bag each time. That is way too expensive for how little you get. Now don’t get me wrong, it’s a great product. My dog loves them and that’s saying something because she is so picky. She is 13 years old and the regular bully sticks can sometimes be too hard on her teeth. These are just the right hardness for her. Unfortunately, my pocketbook does have some limits, even when it comes to her. Just so you have all the information, they also don’t last long. Maybe a few minutes. But that is because they are dehydrated and not roasted. Like I said, they aren’t nearly as hard as a regular bully stick. I don’t even use a bully stick holder when feeding it to her. It isn’t necessary. You might find that to be a positive or negative. It all depends on your dog’s needs. If you actually got more in the bag I would give them a higher star rating. But I just end up feeling ripped off when I open the bag and see how little I get for how much I paid. So that’s enough for me. After two times buying these and getting the same thing each time, it would be my own fault if I bought them again.

My dog goes nuts for these bully sticks! He will no longer eat the other bully sticks that last longer, which is what he started with. I believe the raw, freeze-dried method provides a high-quality taste, which is why he loves them so much!! Considering how quickly he consumes them, they are a bit pricey, but the joy he gets from these treats is worth it. I become happy myself knowing how much he loves these bully sticks. I highly recommend these treats to any pet parent looking for a high-value treat, your fur baby won't tire of.

Update: the quality has gone down while the prices continues to go up. Reducing this four pack down to three while raising the price and poor overall quality made me cancel the subscription and switch over to a cheaper and better alternative. This Vital Essentials bully stick is honestly amazing. My dog is not a big chewer — she’s a grazer, barely motivated by treats, food, or chew toys. We’ve bought tons of bully sticks on Amazon and she usually loses interest fast… but not with this one. Check out my uploaded video to see what I mean. She is obsessed. She’ll chew it all day, carry it around the house, and even bring it with her on walks — literally keeps it in her mouth the entire time. She has never reacted like this to any other bully stick we’ve tried. Because she’s chewing it constantly, it’s also doing an excellent job at cleaning her teeth, which is a huge bonus. For picky dogs, this is the one. If your dog usually sniffs a treat and walks away, try this — it might surprise you like it did us. My only complaint? It’s pricey and only comes in a 4–5 pack. I wish they offered bulk options because my dog would go through a 20-pack without hesitation. Honestly, Vital Essentials… if you ever want to sponsor my dog, I’d happily post weekly videos showing how crazy she goes for these bully sticks! It doesn’t smell at all…. The thickness varies, and it’s freeze dried so easily digestible and effective at teeth cleaning.. fun facts did you know that bully sticks are bull penis? lol, my vet told me this yesterday and I had to look it up, Highly recommended for selective, hard-to-please pups.
