I'm still here to write a review thanks to this helmet!
If I could give 10 starts for this helmet I would. When I went shopping for a new helmet I was approached it with an open mind. A local bike shop steered me toward the Aeon. Living in the Houston area where it can get incredibly hot and muggy, he pointed out it had excellent airflow, That alone was enough to make a sale. I could not believe how much of an improvement it was over my earlier helmet. It was also much lighter and when I bought it the bike store guy told me that despite the lightness it was a very strong helmet.I'm living proof of its strength. Yesterday, Easter Sunday, I was out for a ride on my time trial bike. Coming into a curve at nearly 29 mph, the bike went out from under me. I came down heavily and really thumped the pavement with my Aeon helmet. Despite the violence of the impact, there was no pain and no head or neck injury of any kind, and I remember thinking, "THAT worked the way it was supposed to!!" The helmet sustained extensive damage (see photo!), but it was all for a good cause, and I walked away from the accident.Calling Giro, they gave me a crash replacement 30% discount on my next helmet. I bought another one.I hope no one has to test his helmet the way I did and it is unlikely you'll have to test it at the speed I did, but I can assure you this has all the right attributes: Unbeatable protection, light, great ventilation, and excellent customer service.Way to go Giro!!

Best helmet I have ever owned
This helmet saved my life on a tricky descent where I took a bad spill. I lost the rear tire, at high speed, due to a sharp turn, a pothole, and sand and gravel. My pedal hooked the edge of the pothole and I was instantly torqued head first into the pavement with the front top left of my head impacting on the edge of the pothole at 20+ mph. The helmet was seriously mashed in and shredded on the whole left side. It had a crack all the way through to the center on the internal padding too. However, it stayed put on my noggin exactly as if I had just put it on. I was knocked out from the impact - going from 20mph to zero with your head will do that...This helmet cups and holds to your head very, very, comfortably and uses a single small knob in the back to tension or loosen the overall grip. The knob has a positive stop, meaning it clicks right or left to hold the exact fit. Once set, I rarely have to touch it. I have a 23 in head so I'm right on the edge of a medium (which I use), but there is still enough room for a headband or sweatcap to comfortably fit. I have about 4-5 clicks worth of room left to tighten even with a headsweats on. Compared to a Lazer top spinner, this is infinitely better in my opinion. The rear part of the internal cage/cup is also adjustable (up and down) which really helps hook the helmet to the back of the head where the head meets the spine. This is also where the knob is located. My previous helmet, before my totaled Aeon, was the Lazer Helium. The Aeon fits me much better and covers the forehead better than the Lazer. Comfort is also a hundred times better. In the past, I'd have a ring around my head with the Lazer no matter how loose or tight it was. Not with this helmet.Cooling is also better than the Lazer. I find that the holes are better placed and sized, so you can scratch an itch much more easily, and generally I stay cooler and sweat less with the Aeon. In addition, the front holes hold my glasses much more easily than the Lazer. On a long climb, I don't have to fumble with my glasses on the Aeon, I just pull them off, flip them over and hook them in. For whatever reason I could never get that with the Lazer. The cooling does not come at the expense of wind noise which is pretty excellent. I can still hear the Prius' creeping up behind me.They give you extra anti-bacterial pads, which is nice, and the straps are on the thin side, meaning they are a thin material. At first, I thought this was cheap and flimsy, but now I look at my other helmets as having thick and clunky straps. The excess is sufficient, but not overtly so, and the rubber straps help hold everything neatly down. Adjusting the straps is a standard clamp affair and works predictably well.I'm not trying to bash the Laser helmets. They are nice helmets, and the only way to know which one is best for you is to try them on. That said, this helmet performs well in all areas I care about, especially the part about keeping me alive. It has a classic Giro great fit, and I won't comment (to much) on aesthetics, but I personally think it's one of the better looking options out there.I strongly recommend this helmet to any street cyclist who cares about the most important part of the bike - the rider.

It clipped off the two upper protrusions in the back and crushed some of the rear foam but my head was fine, no neck issues and no headache
Saved my noggin!Went over the bars coming down a hill in a curve doing mid 20's (rear wheel blew out) and came down on the back of the helmet. It clipped off the two upper protrusions in the back and crushed some of the rear foam but my head was fine, no neck issues and no headache. Thanks Giro. My head ended up much better than my right hip. The rocklock did come loose on one side but I just had to pop the little plastic pin back into the helmet where the hole was.

the venting is awesome and it's easy to adjust the fit of the ...
This is my third Aeon helmet. It costs less each time I buy one because it is an older Giro model. For me, there is no need to by the more expensive new Giro models because this model gives me everything I could ever ask for in a bike helmet - it's so light weight, I don't even know it's there, the venting is awesome and it's easy to adjust the fit of the helmet while riding. Most importantly, when you crash, it absorbs the blow to your head and you live to ride another day - now you know why I've had to buy multiple helmets.
