Duke Ruby Fude Fountain Pen, Calligraphy Fountain Pen, Curved Nib, Fine to Large Size for Signature and Art Drawing

I like Fude nibs for sketching and graphics using them with Carbon and Document ink and watercolour. Once you have got the hang of them you can get every kind of line from hair-thin to broad and can swiftly block in dark areas. Although I had read many glowing reviews of the Duke fude I was a bit suspicious. (I had bought the well reviewed Sailor fude and was underwhelmed with the quality of the build and nib.)As you can imagine I wasn't keen on paying out a lot on another pen that didn't suit, especially since I've been happily using the cheap, reliable Jinhao 750 with an easily swapped in fude nib for years.But I was seduced into buying the Duke Ruby by its attractive appearance, medium cost and relatively small size. I am delighted with it. It's a really good looking pen, well built, a nice size and, if you don't post on the heavy cap, a pleasant weight. Most importantly the nib is excellent. It is smooth to use, very flexible and expressive and really good quality. I was especially pleased at how well I could make fine lines by turning it upside down. The feed and ink flow is good and its higher price is well justified by its great quality. I tried it out next to my cheap old Jinhao, using Carbon ink for both, and it felt stiff and clunky in comparison to the Duke.If you are interested in a smaller Fude pen but don't know which one to get I recommend this one. It only works out at a few pounds more than others as it includes a free ink converter and also has the advantage of not being too large or heavy a pen for carrying about or sustained use.

I bought this pen on recommendation from another illustrator I work with. I was skeptical but took a chance as it’s not a lot of money. I was extremely happy with the results. Really good range in stroke widths (you can get really fine.) Great flow using a quality carbon ink which seems to last forever. It did take half an hour of so to get the hang of using the nib upside down but when you get the hang of it, it’s very satisfying.Had to order it twice as the first one was lost in transit but Amazon issued an immediate refund to my wallet. It was worth waiting for.

A beautiful to look at and fun to use fountain pen with a smooth ink flow. It comes with a pre-installed ink converter which I understand can be removed to use cartridges, but I haven't tried that yet. I'm teaching myself to draw and have discovered the joy of pen and ink. This fude pen with its purposely bent nib provides a dynamic edge to an otherwise mediocre skill. It takes a little practice to manipulate the thin and thick lines, but that's the fun; finding out what you can do with it. It also travels well, with no evidence of leakage when carried about in an a pencil case.I would definitely recommend this very affordable pen for your creative endeavours

This pen writes well but the ink refill converter seems defective as it will only refill to 2/3rds full which means it will need refilling more frequently. Not what I expect from a pen of this price.

This sounds like a moan. I know. But I found the amount of ink flow too much and almost unworkable. I've got several other fude nibs that all ink roughly the same. This one, it just floods out.It might be my ink (Parker Quink) but I'd be surprised at that one.

Smooth, great for expressive drawing with thick and thin lines. I use Rohrer and Kingner Sketchink ink, a permanent ink that - amazingly - can be used in fountain pens without blocking (so I can add watercolour accents to my ink drawings afterwards). Works perfectly. The pen feels a nice weight when drawing. It looks stylish/expensive, and feels nicely heavy when the lid is on.

Well made and an interesting writing experience - and excellent for drawing. Love it - and it looks so whacky !!!

La pluma es de estilo oriental.No es exactamente grande sino al contrario. El plumín es curvo por lo que me está costando más acostumbrarme a el para los que dibujen seguramente será perfecto porque permite trazos finos y gruesos dependiendo de la posición

Excellent pour le dessin mais aussi l'écriture. L'efficacité du système de remplissage permet de parfaitement vider et rincer le stylo en quelques minutes. Il est donc facile de changer de couleur d'encre au gré de ses envies.

Por calidad precio perfecta, cumple totalmente mis expectativas, adaptándome a ella perfectamente.Punto fuerte a destacar la posibilidad de hacer trazos gruesos y finos indistintamente gracias a la forma inclinada que tiene el tajo que según lo posiciones sobre el papel haces un trazo y otro.Otro elemento importante es la de disponer de cargador manual de tinta, por lo que puedes poner la tinta que más se adecue.

Bel design, la penna è leggera, c'e' un buon equilibrio del peso.Buono il flusso dell'inchiostro sia per la scrittura che per il disegno, si carica facilmente.La penna e il pennino mi hanno soddisfatto.
