Yukon Quest: The Story of the World's Toughest Sled Dog Race

Another good book about the Yukon Quest for fans of sled dog racing, extreme sports, life in the far north and those amazing dogs. The YQ is one tough race. Lew Freedman writes very well about the sport of mushing and those who take part in it. He has authored a number of books about the YQ, Iditarod and various racers.

We've been musher fans for many years and this is a good book to describe the differencesbetween the Quest and all other races. Sled racing is one of the most dangerous anddemanding sports in existence, and too many folk in the outside don't really have a goodconcept what is involved and the strength and energy expended by mushers as well as thedogs.

I am proud owner of purebred Siberian huskies--very interesting book to read,love it---educational and is a wonderful story to share with dog lovers

Just realy a great book of cold weather, great men and women who run and race dogs and just a good read. Just nice. . This book puts you there!

I enjoyed reading this book, he takes u into each year of the race. He tells you about each of the bobsled teams and guides. It is an interesting story, well told.

Great book about the toughest race on Earth. Very interesting reading about the history of the trail, about Alaska and about mushers and their unbeatable dogs! Really good!

This book narrates in a very interesting and captivating manner the entire history of Yukon Quest, the greatest dog sledding race of the world, its major participants and the winners.I liked the way author developed characters and then narrated their inside stories of participation in the race. The book contains some black and white pictures, although I would have loved more of them.The book is easy to read. It is organised in chapters, primarily year wise, but many chapters deviate from this particular arrangement.If you love sled dogs, dog sledding, or new sports like skijoring and hikejoring then this book is for you. Heck, this book is for you, even if you are into adventure travelling and would like to try something new in the winters of the north.
