I got these pollen patties, hoping to give my little human son a taste of what real, unadulterated nature offers. After all, they're packed with real USA pollen, essential amino acids, and even seaweed extracts – basically a superfood smoothie for bees, right? I figured if it's good enough to boost colony health, strength, and honey production, it must be pretty potent for a growing boy. Well, my son, ever the discerning critic, took one bite. His eyes widened, and he immediately declared, DAD!, this is VERY sweet and gross! Then, with a look of profound disappointment (or perhaps, profound relief that he wasn't a bee), he promptly attempted to return the patty to our local buzzing workforce. "Here you go, bees," he mumbled, "I think these are more your speed." While it turns out my son's palate isn't quite aligned with the discerning tastes of a honeybee colony, I can confirm these patties are, indeed, incredibly sweet. And if the bees' frantic joy at getting their 'snack' back is any indication, they absolutely adore them! So, if you're a beekeeper looking to give your colony a gourmet treat that's scientifically proven to boost their well-being, these are a buzzing success. If you're a parent hoping to sneak some unique nutrients into your child's diet... maybe stick to the fruit snacks. Unless your kid is a bee, in which case, five stars!

First, in a standard langstroth hive it is slightly too thick and just pushes my next level inserts up a few millimeters. Also, I wanted to give five stars, but my bees just don’t seem interested after the first day of figuring out what was in the hive. Will this go bad, spoil, or rot, if the bees don’t use it? Will they ignore it over winter? Purchased in August and tested on my two new colonies of bees. I am first time beekeeper this year with two hives purchased in June 2025. From the pic you can see they do bring in a good amount of pollen, even for August in the PNW.

Pollen patties are packaged for quick unpacking and are easily adjusted to multiple application methods. Our bees cleaned every bit of the patties we put out when forage was scarce!

My bees loved it

These worked perfectly for my first hive. Plenty to last the spring and fall for multiple hives. I only have one hive and used a total of 2 full patties for the whole of spring. Make sure to store them in an airtight container or wrapped in cellophane!

My bees love these pollen patties! I keep them in the fridge to keep out insects. They warm up quickly after taking them out. I remove the paper and lay them directly on the frames. The 15% patties are devoured in a week.

I've given my bees a small amount of one patty slice and the queen bee has started laying eggs like everywhere! amazing results i can't wait until next spring and see better results
