The plates are more sturdy than others made of coated or un-coated paper. I like the wood look better than plastic and that they are biodegradable is an nice plus. The utensils, especially the knife, are of questionable value and best for light duty only. The price (about $1.20 per setting) is several times higher than for plates made of other biodegradable materials (paper, sugar cane fiber, etc). That seems a little steep for single use plates. I'll use them when I want something with more of a quality look but not for every day burgers and dogs.

These plates are definitely made from wood because the scent is strong, but I like it. The plates are strong and they hold up well in the microwave. I'm not sure if these are any better for the environment or not, but I hope they are. The utensils feel a little flimsy but they get the job done, as long as the job isn't heavy. The knife was good for spreading peanut butter. I don't think I'd ever attempt to do any cutting, no matter how light. Overall, they serve their purpose of reducing the number of dishes I have to wash.

These are really unique looking plates complete with forks and knives.They are very sturdy and will be great for a stepped up party where traditional paper/cardboard plates just won't cut it!Since they are 8" plates they will be more suited for a small lunch, appetizers or deserts than a main course.The reason for the 4 star rating is that I'm not real crazy about the knives and forks(especially the knives). While I would think that they will function just fine, the knives remind me of popsicle sticks. I kind of wish that they sold the plates separately at a little lower price point.Overall this is a nice special occasion disposable plate set!

The plates with this set are super sturdy. I like that because they’re made from bamboo that they’re not perfectly uniform. It gives them an elevated look given that they’re disposable. The forks and knives work pretty well. Because they’re wood-like, the forks don’t slide on your lips like a plastic fork. Not a major issue. If you can afford them, they are a nice alternative to paper plates and definitely nicer than styrofoam.

No worries about the plates bending because you want two servings of dinner tonight. The plates hold whatever you put on them. The forks were really the only thing I was skeptical of. But they pulled through all my tests with them. Even with soft pancakes.

These look like real bamboo! The plates have a nice non-stick coating so nothing sticks. The only thing is the comfort and feel of the utensils. They are wood so rustic and cool, just not my favorite feel while eating with the forks.

My wife and I do a lot of outdoor entertaining, so we selected these plates and utensils to add to our ‘party pantry’ of serving items. These plates are quite strong and decently thick.They hold up without bending with a large burger and sides on them. The forks and knives look great, rustic and are a much more eco-friendly choice than plastic. We like the rustic good looks of this set and look forward to using them this summer for bbqs for friends and family.

Having recently returned from a trip to Europe, we found that in many countries the use of paper and wooden utensils and plates becoming more common, (Even in some of the US brand fast food places). I think we all know that there is too much plastic being discarded into the our world.These plates are tough and work well for food. The only reason I gave a very picky 4 stars rather than 5 is that the plates deep texture might be a problem with some foods. Since they are disposable, it might not matter.The plates are not big serving plates, nor small dessert plates, they are in between and will work well for parties were Hord 'oeuvres or light meals are provided. This is a good solution to an ongoing problem.
